“Lovely, peaceful hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Stayed here for just the one night but very impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the room in particular and the hotel in general. Our room gave us a lovely view over towards Mont St. Michel in the distance. My wife raved about the fair trade white bathrobes!

We ate in the seafood restaurant downstairs and had a great meal. Although the waiting staff's understanding of English was about as bad as ours of French, the girl who served us went out of her way to ensure that we knew what we were ordering and even went into the kitchen to bring us out some whelks and winkles to show us!

All-in-all a lovely evening and night - we will return!

“Very comfortable overnight stop on the front at Cancale”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

We stayed one night and this was our first night in France, having arrived earlier in the day on the Portsmouth to St.Malo night ferry. We got to Cancale in the early afternoon when all the seafood restaurants were heaving with people. Unfortunately we couldn't check-in until 3pm so spent some time wandering the streets instead. Cancale is the oyster capital of France so it is a cheap and delicious pleasure not to be missed to eat oysters fresh from the bay at the producers stalls at the end of the jetty, and watch the oyster tractors lugging their cargo off the mud flats. When we did finally get to check in, the hotel proved to have lovely, recently re-done rooms of a high standard for such a small place. We were give a two bedroom, first floor suite for the three of us, which was very comfortable and had windows out to a quite side street. The rooms are above what seems to be one of the better restaurants in the town. We regretted not having had dinner there, but had a nice relaxed breakfast the next morning with plenty of strong coffee, cereals, fruit, jams and pastries.

“aircon please”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

Location, cleanliness, size of the room, comfort all great. Except that we didn't find airconditioning which can be a pain in the summer!

“A disappointing stay for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

The hotel was clean and the food good, but overall the stay was disappointing. The staff were very unhelpful. The receptionist did not explain parking arrangements correctly (there were actually two options: either parallel parking and pay by parking meter, maximum stay 2hrs, necessary to feed the meter until 8pm, or drive into car park behind by barrier and pay on exit). No effort was made to speak clearly and slowly, let alone in English, and the waiter at dinner was similarly abrupt. The waitress at breakfast even muttered instructions (help yourself at the bar) as she walked off, and seemed more interested in polishing door knobs than making sure we had what we wanted. The room was hot and there was no space to put the suitcases. The room looked out on a brick wall a meter from the window. No mention of "hope you had a happy stay" on departure, just a bill.

“Nice location but disaster of a bed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

Decent hotel - actually its more a restaurant with rooms (I have reviewed the restaurant seperately)

Nice sea view rooms but the bed was woefully small, hard and creaky
