Rooms: We stayed here on two occasions (two rooms each time) so we experienced four rooms. The two rooms on the second floor were in an ‘older’ style, but had a pleasant décor. The two rooms on the fourth floor seemed to be a bit more modern in style, with a different décor. All were adequately equipped and clean. The rooms at the front of the hotel had a really lovely view of the river and boats, although the other rooms obviously had rather less engaging views.
The only real drawback with the rooms was that three of the four rooms had a long shower hose attached to the bath taps (and a shower curtain), but nowhere to fix the shower on the wall above the bath – so it was not really possible to have a hands-free shower!
Restaurant: The restaurant was of a good standard, and seemed to be very popular. However, it specialises in seafood, and therefore the choice was rather limited for anyone who doesn’t eat fish or shellfish. (On our first evening, despite our dictionary/phrasebook, we had some difficulty in translating the menu; the second evening was much easier because one of the staff spoke good English and was very helpful!)
We thought the buffet breakfast was very good, with plenty of choices.
Location: This hotel has a very good location, almost on the waterfront. It is very close to where the boats leave for cruises up the Odet River and to the Glenan Islands, and also close to the start of the little ‘tourist train’ circuit.
There is a creperie just around the corner, and a delightful little café nearby (almost next door to the booking office for the boat trips) which also does take-away sandwiches and ice-creams.
Car parking: When we were there, there seemed to be plenty of spaces in the hotel car park (at the back of the hotel).
