We had sewer smell coming through the bathroom sink during our stay. Since it was a Sunday, the hotel said they could not get a plumber. Upon departure we asked whether they could offer us a rebate on the room price in order to compensate for our unpleasant experience and they plainly refused.

Sometimes with a cheap hotel you get lucky. This is not the case with the Hotel des Recollets. It is in the old part of Sarlat in a charming building. The staff are friendly and speak good English. There is a nice interior terrace with good Wifi connection. On the downside the whole place needs a coat of paint. It's shabby with mismatched curtains and bedspreads and cheap furniture. The blankets are grubby and, in the room I had, the bed smelt of cigarette smoke. It is very quiet at night except at the weekend when the bar across the laneway kicks off'. My advice? Choose a cheapie elsewhere in Sarlat.

Just perfect. Very nice staff and beautiful building, in a beautiful village. I look forward to staying there again.

We were there from Oct 10th to Oct 17th, 2008. We had an excellent stay and everything we need we were answered promptly. The hotel and the room was always clean and tidy. The breakfast was a typical French petit-déjeuner: pay attention on this because the Fench breakfast is different from other countries and you may think that it is not a good breakfast but, in fact, it is good and just like this in almost all places in France. If you don´t speak French, call them and ask for Emilie. She is fantastic and will help you in everything you need. The internet wi-fi access is expensive, even for France, but works.
