We just spent four nights here and loved it. It was clean and very comfortable - high quality bed, extremely quiet. It was a great base for exploring the region which we did each morning. Each afternoon, we drank wine and played cards on the decks under the trees outside, and walked in to Sarlat for dinner. The walk is steep, but not more than 15 minutes.

The host and hostess are wonderfully friendly and were very helpful with ideas for good places to eat and things to see. Absolutely delightful.

This is a good place if you want a base for exploring the area and have a car which you need to park. If you are planning just to visit Sarlat for a day or two try to find somewhere in town. The climb back is hard work and you would not really want to that after an evening out. It is quite difficult to find taxis for short trips. So it is not a very convenient place when they are not doing an evening meal - which is most of the time after mid September - and you don't want to drive to a restaurant.

We found the owners far from charming. They appeared to resent any inability to converse with them in French. That was despite the fact that they answered e-mails with lengthy ones in English. Might be better for them to indicate at that stage that they don't care to have to communicate in English. I know this is France and they speak French there but if hoteliers in Hungary and Croatia etc took that stance they wouldn't be too successful. If they want the business why not make some effort to communicate in the language that many of their guests will understand?

The grass round the pool on which many seats are placed is uncut and unkempt. Why? Too much effort? They lay the tables for breakfast by plonking down the plates and expecting you to sort them out yourselves. Would it be too much trouble to set them properly?

The room was nice, bed comfortable and place peaceful but we would rather have been somewhere else.

Pleasantly suprised upon my arrival. Charming farm house situated above Sarlat about 10-15 minute walk downhill/uphill. Owners were initially a little "rough on the edges" on the phone, but turned out to be very nice people. Charming and cozy little room #6 under slanted roof, with small view on garden. There is also a pool and orchards around the property. Would highly recommend, except for those who want to be in the center of town, as the walk town is short but hearty.

We stayed here for 9 nights and were so happy with our choice. The location is lovely, set above a residential area on a hill above town set in it's own walnut grove. Whilst not being in the centre of Sarlat, the walk down to town for dinner only took ten minutes.

The hotel itself, whilst being simply decorated is very characterful and is surrounded by pretty gardens and trees. It is spotlessly clean throughout including the rooms and bathrooms, both decorated simply yet stylishly. It is peaceful and felt more like a grown ups hotel which was nice.

Breakfast is lovely, fresh bread and croissants, fresh OJ and yogurt. Dinner was only served on the Saturday while we were there but it was really delicious, a welcome break from the duck and foie gras which is standard fare in the region, Jean Luc cooked a superb three course meal. There is often a roaring fire in the dining room which adds to the atmosphere.

We could not recommend this hotel enough, Martine and Jean-Luc were very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable.
