“Nice Hotel”

Park Inn - Arcachon - Room 502 - May 2007

We only stayed at this hotel for one night as we were passing through on our way south.

The room we had was very comfortable, clean, airy and decorated in a bright Scandinavian colour theme. The room had a beautiful large balcony/terrace with furniture and a view of the beach. The area was very quiet the day we were there.

The hotel has secure underground parking (for a fee) which is a good thing since parking in this area is very much at a premium.
You have to get the gate code from the front desk which made check-in a little challenging since we could not find a place to park on the street.

As with all French hotels we found the cost of breakfast to be outrageous but there is a friendly sandwich shop steps away, where coffee and pastry for two could be had for 6 Euro.

The hotel is located on the seafront and has a wide variety of restaurants within easy walking distance.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

We would stay here again without any hesitation.

Booked on line, getting confirmation on hotel letterhead. When we arrived, no booking, no apology, no apparent surprise by reception staff. They even told us we should always phone to confirm internet bookings. When pressed, they phoned another hotel in a nearby back street and got us a room (not the sea-view booked) and promised someone from the management would be in touch. But so far - October - and no word of apology or explanation.

“Good chain hotel”

We stayed at the Park Inn on the last night of our holiday as we were going to fly out of Bordeaux airport the following morning.

The hotel is 60 km's from Bordeaux airport ( not 6 as in the description ).

We had never been to Arcachon before and it is a busy sea side resort. We arrived late in the afternoon and drove around for over an hour looking for the hotel ( Arcahchon has a one way system, and once you are in it you have to do the tour ), we also ended up at the Parc Hotel a little out of town - which is different but seemed nice. To find the Park Inn by car, when arriving from Bordeaux, at the roundabout which has the station on it turn right and head for the sea. You will see the Casino at the end of the road and the entrance to the underground car park is well signposted to the left of the casino. The hotel iteslf is in a road on the right.

The car parking was good ( but €13 ), and the reception had our reservation ( and we had arrived late, and they were otherwise full ). The room was a 'deluxe' and had plenty of room for the double bed and two single beds our family required. It was all vey clean, cool and relatively ( for a centre of town ) quiet. I wouldnt want to stay for two weeks in the room but for a long weekend it would be great. The staff that we saw were very pleasant and spoke good English.

The only reason it is not a five star is that it was not quaint or charming or typical of the region. It was quite expensive at €199 for a room for 4 ( including tax and car parking ), but this was what we were expecting to pay. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the airport ( leaving at 7 a.m. ) - later in the day would take longer.

My kids thought it was great, and next year we think we will maybe have a long weekend there as Arcachon and the area has loads of things to do. We would stay at the Park Inn again.

“Very central and on the beach”

The rooms are getting a bit tired but they are adequate. As already written - the towels are too small. We did not find it particularly noisy. The parking was good, being in the centre of town (underground parking). The hotel is 'under lifted' i.e. only one lift that can fit a luggage trolley and two people only. The aircon was on all night.

“Nice but Noisy”

Down as a Mercure but part of the Rezidor chain and called Park Inn. Nice clean hotel and the location is perfect for the beach and town itself. BUT, if you want some peace and quiet - AVOID. That is, unless you keep the windows tightly shut. It seems they turn off the AC at some stage even if it's still hot, so you have to keep the window open.
One side of the hotel is affected by the local casino & it's all night high decibel air conditioning units whilst the other side seems to be a race track for mopeds late at night followed by the street & beach cleaners/sweepers very, very early in the morning.

If you are there for a just a night, get some decent ear plugs or bottle or two of a nice Bordeaux.
