I booked online and was quite surprised when I arrived to find that it was actually on the beach. The staff were curteous and helpful. The only problem being that my husband had to drive around a very busy carpark while I checked in because you can't actually go into their carpark until you've checked in. The room was spacious and clean altho we didn't have a view. We were slightly worried that a rock band was setting up outside the front of the hotel as we arrived but the double glazing kept out all the noise and we slept very soundly. It was a little pricey but you really are paying for the positon.

We paid slightly extra for a room with a sea view and nothing could have prepared me for how wonderul it was to slide back the double glazing and stand on our wide balcony to see the sparkling sea dotted with sails. The rooms have obviously been updated and are bright and seasidy. The bathroom and toilet were both OK but not luxurious. Lino floors there would have been ideal if we'd carried a lot of sand in with us.
Reception staff were helpful. The car park was useful as Arcachon would be a nightmare to park in, but parking was expensive.
Cleaners didn't tend to get round to cleaning our room until late afternoon, and we were waiting to use it to have a break. In the end, we snoozed on the recliners on the balcony, while they cleaned.
We appreciated the mini bar (which was no more expensive than the high prices charged in the cafes around there) and the airconditioning, but I would have loved tea and coffee making facilities. The best thing was that we were such a short step from wonderful sandy beaches, and beach side pavement restaurants!

Because of a previous Tripadvisor review we prepaid this room and asked many confirming questions.

Contrary to a Tripadvisor review we had read, everything was ready when we got there and the desk staff was very helpful. Don't know if we were lucky or previous reviewer unlucky.?

Room a little small, but, this is Europe. Clean, nice view. Parking secure and under hotel.

Breakfast room charming; good neighborhood cafes.

Decor bright and cheerful.

I stayed at this hotel with my 8 year old daughter for one night because we were attending a Mika concert at the nearby Velodrome. I chose this hotel mainly because it was the only one in Arcachon reviewed on the internet and I knew we would be walking home from the concert. I have since found there are a number of much more reasonably priced alternatives around the town.

When we arrived (at 3.00 pm) our room was not ready and we were "invited" to leave our bags and go away for a while. We had been travelling since 7.30 that morning so I asked if that would merit a reduction on the rather exhorbitant price of 160 euros. The suggestion was met with a stare of disbelief. I was given another room (still don't know what the difference would have been if any) and we checked in as planned.

The hotel is adequate but, apart from its close proximity to the beach, I can't figure out why it is so expensive.

The room was clean and comfortable but not particularly well equipped and there were no facilties that I could see to justify the cost. We discovered the next morning that there is a restaurant somewhere but we were not advised of its whereabouts at any point during our stay.

The reception staff varied in their hospitality but at least one female receptionist looked as though she would like to single-handedly rid France of all tourists - beginning with the English.

Incidentally, the velodrome is a good 30 minute walk away and there are plenty of other hotels much nearer to it. Arcachon is beautiful and well worth visiting.
