Stayed here for two nights in August and really enjoyed it. Our room was a decent size and the bathroom was large and modern. Location was perfect. It is just off the main street so it is relatively quiet while also easy to access (we took the bus from Colmar and it was a short walk up the main road). Our favorite part of the hotel was the indoor/outdoor seating area tucked under a stone archway next to the entrance. It was a great place to have an after dinner drink or afternoon coffee and connects to the hotels free wi-fi.

Having read the other reviews, I was nervous about the staircase, but it's not as bad as some would have you believe. You can get a big suitcase up and down the spiral steps, but only if you're in good shape. If you've ever climbed the stairs up a Medieval tower, then you'll be prepared for this experience. Otherwise, the rooms are huge, the water pressure is ample, there is on-site parking (with the added thrill of navigating the cobbled streets), and the breakfast is fine. There's also a nice bar that features local wines and beers. Riquewihr hosts a Christmas market in December, so the town is very active all day and most of the evening. It's lovely, but I had the sense that the hotel staff were ready to see the end of the tourists for this year. I don't blame them, really.

The hotel is just OK, but the location is perfect. The room was up 2 flights of steep stairs and no one available to help with bags--not unusual, but would have been appreciated. The size of the room was a plus, but the lighting, access to mirrors, and beds could be better.
The staff was not particularly friendly. We stopped into the small hotel bar for a glass of wine before dinner. It was deserted except for the guy behind the bar and two other employees. We felt unwelcome as if we were intruding, and finished our drinks very quickly.

Stayed here for 3 nights in Oct. We booked based on reviews and it was exactly as I expected. Very old building with lots of charm. Convenient location to center of town. It is weird to drive down the center of this small, walled, Alsace village in a car to get to the hotel parking but it just adds to the overall experience. Climbing the narrow stairs could be an issue for some. Beds were comfortable and room clean. Bathroom we had only had a tub with shower hose. Rooms are a little dark but again, part of the appeal of staying in a very old building. Staff were very helpful and the bar has the cheapest beer in town. Would stay again for sure!
