We stayed for 3 nights at the Gouverneur. We understand the hotel has been recently renovated and is now a very attractive, comfortable hotel. We had a large double room on the first floor with a double aspect and large shower room which is separate from the toilet. The hotel had a locked private parking garage at 5 euros per day but there is public parking outside the hotel free overnight or free on the edge of the town during the day. The self serve breakfast was plentiful at a cost of 8 euros which seemed to be the average for the town. The hotel had no restaurant but there are many to choose from and the hotel is at the bottom of the main street incorporated into the ramparts round the town. Altogether a brilliant choice for a visit to a very pretty Alsace town.

A long drive from Reims to Strasbourg for meetings and then to Obernai for two nights. The hotel is family run and was beautiful - Half-timbered and several hundred years old; built around a central courtyard. Although right on the road, the town is so quiet, that there was no noise disturbance at night.
The Gouverneur does not really do a restaurant service, and they got caterers in for an evening meal with our guest speaker on one night. Breakfasts were included though, with coffee served from jugs on the tables.
Obernai is a small, hisotric town, with plenty to see down small alleyways and you really need your French to fully appreciate it.
