We stayed at the Miramar Boutique Hotel at the tail end of the 2011 summer season in mid-September. The hotel itself is very charming, built on a hillside overlooking the bay. There is a road between the hotel and the beach, but they provide a shuttle service if you need it (otherwise it's a 3 minute walk, which isn't too bad). However, that beach is not really the best swimming beach in town anyway and we ended up not spending much time there. The hotel's pool area is much more relaxing - nice layout with restaurant and bar adjacent. The restaurant tables are placed far enough apart for privacy and the outer ones have a fantastic view of the bay (this whole area is at the highest level up the hillside).
The rooms are quite comfortable and also face the bay. Ours had a balcony - not sure if they all have one so better to check. Nice bathrooms though, very tastefully decorated.
The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful, courteous and prompt. My French is only average, so I was happy that they all spoke excellent English too!
Propriano itself is not a bad place to be based... it's mid-way along the South coast so most of the Southern destinations are about an hour to 90 minutes away. There are plenty of restaurants of varying quality along the main street of the town. A sailing cruise on the bay with a stop to swim in one of the small coves at sunset is also worth doing.
Overall, I'd definitely recommended the Miramar. Would come back if we ever make it to Corsica again...
