The dictionary describes "villas" as "a luxurious country house" or "a substantial estate". Whatever description you choose, Les Oliviers is not. Neither in full or mini version, unless you preference is more to the typical shepperd stone houses you find all over Europe. Perhaps even those stone huts are better built than Les Oliviers (the hinges on the windows do not keep them fully retracted and in a tight space it means you band against them all the time). Even thought we knew that the 35 Sq mtrs 3 room place would be a squeeze for 3 we did not take into account the way they chopped up the interior which made it even more cumbersome to get around.
The idea to build something that is inobstrusive (half buried) so that you can have high density and not make it look like your typical middle class hood is great. The trick is not to make them look like poor hobit holes (unlike like the one's we saw in Lord Of The Rings).
Furniture that does not fall apart in your hands would help. Some shades on the bare lightbulbs would be a nice touch. Since Madame only rents them by the week, and in high season by the forthnight, it would be very smart to make sure the matresses are of good quality. Remember to read the fine print on the french contract, as you will be charged 50 E for the "sheet rental" unless you bring your own.
We could not make use of the pool in the premises as the water is very cold.
A half a mile or so from Les Oliviers there is a similar development scheme which loosely translates to "houses of stone". Both are promoted jointly. I would assume that it is owned by the same Madame, and that it has received similar attention to detail. Caveat Emptor!
