We stayed for five nights at Le Roi Theodore in June 2005. As it was still early in the season, the hotel was very quiet during our stay.
Location: The hotel is located on the main road into Porto Vecchio from Bastia, and is about 1.5km outside the centre of Porto Vecchio. It takes 5-10 minutes in the car to travel from the hotel to the centre, and about 30 minutes to walk. Be warned however, there aren't paths as such, and you have to walk along the side of the road at times. However, we did this regularly with no trouble.
Accommodation: Rooms were very spacious with a separate seating area as well as a patio. Bathrooms were clean, and water pressure was good. Our room had a fridge, safe, mini-bar and television (showing mainly French TV).
Facilities: 2 pools - one for swimming, one very shallow. The hotel also has a spa, sauna and fitness suite. There are a range of beauty treatments etc. available as well.
Eating/Drinking: We did not eat in the hotel during our stay, but the menu looked varied. Cost was 10 EUR per person for breakfast, and 30 EUR per person. It was fairly expensive for drinks from the bar and cost 7 EUR for two coffees (compared to about 4 in most bars and restaurants in the area).
Staff: All very helpful and multi-lingual. Many people in Corsica do not speak any English, and my French is not great, so it is best to take a phrasebook. However, all of the staff in the hotel were very helpful.
Cost: 135 EUR per night for the room in June. However, in August this rises to over 300 EUR per night. Reasonable value for June but somewhat overpriced in-season.
PROS: Rooms very spacious, hotel complex peaceful with good facilities. Staff very helpful.
CONS: Best to hire a car (this applies to Corsica as a whole). Expensive during peak times.
Overall: I would stay at this hotel again if I was back in Porto Vecchio. Maybe not in August however!
