We stayed at "Le Roi Théodore" for 4 nights in June. We had a rather large room on the ground floor with a small terrasse overlooking the pool, as can be expected in a 4-star category hotel like Roi Théodore. Room price (€ 180) was actually not so cheap for what we experienced in spite of low season.
FIrst of all, the main impression was that the hotel itself looked and felt like it had not been maintained for the past 20 years, with many things getting worn out or rusted. The whole place gave an impression to be not so clean or in poor condition like the swimming pools, the gardens and the jacuzzi place. Finally, there was an unpleasant moisture smell in the room which did not go away.
Staff though in large number was rather dull and not so professional, excluding the manager himself who was the only one to be helpful.
Breakfast though included in the room price was rather limited in diversity and quality too, more as you could expect in an Ibis or a Campanile hotel...
The place also boasts a restaurant. The food was good but not cheap (€ 50 per person)and you can eat much better in downtown Porto Vecchio for the same price with more friendly service.
Finally, the location in the outskirts of Porto Vecchio was really disappointing, as the hotel lies just against the highway to Bastia which has non-stop traffic day and night, and the noise can be quite disturbing at night, reminding you more of a stay in a cheap motel lying in the industrial suburb of some dull mid-size city on the mainland than in a paradisiac island such as Corsica.
Hopefully we did not spend more time there, and I would definitely not recommend this hotel for a long stay, especially in the peak season where prices tend to sky-rocket.
