My husband has put his remarks about this hotel but I have added the photos of the damp walls and ceiling in our room (Number 5). Why stay here when you can't get to the sea without a car or even see it from the grounds or your room. Calvi is so beautiful but you wouldn't know it from staying at this hotel - it's too far out. The beach at Calvi is so gorgeous but this hotel's beach bar was the only one closed when we went down there.

Our suite was so damp, we were unable to stay and had to move to another hotel.(The Villa in town - also Relais and quite brilliant!)
The Management confirmed the damp was a recurring problem with Room 5, but still refused to return our deposit of £500 approx
We walked around whilst deciding what to do. The place looks like it is unmanaged - none of the gardens had been attended to in a while, a room by the pool was full of junk, paths were breaking up, none of the fountains worked
Something is very wrong at this hotel.

We stayed here for 7 nights and all our high expectations were totally met. The hotel is a very charming old house, surrounded by a beautiful garden and most rooms overlook the mountains. It is extremely quiet and peaceful. Service is professional and helpful although we had some communication issues since English is not fluently spoken by some key staff (such as some people at reception desk). The room was spacious and cosy... Food is also marvellous both at breakfast, lunch and, of course, dinner. The weakest point was the "private beach" which is really just another restaurant in the beach with sun beds (for which you have to pay, as in any other restaurant) and with too many sun beds per square foot! Besides for that, absolutely lovely place.

My husband and I stayed at La Signoria during our honeymoon, and it was one of the most beautiful and relaxing hotels in which I have stayed. It's a little outside of the main center of Calvi, which means it's quiet and out-of-the-way. The grounds are beautiful and well kept and very nice to walk around. We stayed in a Suite Demure, which was large in size, nice comfy bed, balcony, and a fully kitted out bathroom with a shower, bath, and his and hers sinks. The room was always kept very clean and they even came in while we were at dinner to straighten up and leave the weather forecast on your pillow!

The food was exquisite, if not a little expensive, but if you are on a vacation to treat yourself, this is the place to come. The food was always fresh and delivered quickly. Try the club sandwich at lunch time—delicious!!

Other amenities include large pool, indoor jazcuzzi, basic gym, massages, sauna, and steam bath. All were very clean.

The staff are also excellent. I speak very little French but am trying to learn and they were very patient and understanding while I incoherantly stumbled my way through sentences. Most people there do speak very good English, however. The service was always courteous and professional, and requests for anything were dealt with almost immediately.

It's hard to think of any negative points. It's a fairly expensive hotel but totally worth it for the service, food, and accomodations. We felt like we received good value for money at the end of our trip.
