I train people in customer service and my wife has a number of food intolerances which means that how her needs are catered for become the yardstick by which we measure any hotel we stay in.
The staff at The Hotel Corsica are exceptionally good. Within 24 hours they had learnt how to cater for her every need - often suggesting things such as crepes made with goats milk etc.
They learnt the guests names and whilst language was occasionally challenging there was always laughter attached and agrement reached on whtever the issue in question.
The bedroom is compact but adequate and the decor of a high standard. We wnat to take the maid home with us - she is amazing - so nice to return to a "new room" each day!
The shuttle service to Calvi worked very well for us - they even laid on a special slot for us one evening and the driver was very laid back and happy.
The pool is around 16-18 metres long - I swam 250 lengths - around 2.5-3 miles yesterday - the pool record so beat that! It needs cleaning of small debris on the floor owing to the strong wind this week but I guess that happens weekly?
Breakfast is superb - a wonderful selection of food for all tastes - only missing marmalade and hotter water for tea but having said that, i mentioed this and they are going to order some marmalade and fix the urn - so important how feedback is recieved!
We found lunch and dinner food to be expensive as were the drinks. We would have eaten and drank more if they were 20% less. What we did eat was however very good.
We chose to eat out and experience the atmospher of street cafes and resteraunts - out favorite was the "something something le Pate" (sorry) well worth finding - great food excellent service and loads of atmosphere - ask to be served by Gorgeese - he was the main reason we retured 4 times!
Only thing missing is a gym - I made up for it in the pool but we'd have loved to have somewhere to work-out each day.
Suggest you hire scooters at leas on day and head south. There is a lovely small cove about 5KM from Calvi that is at the end of a very bumpy track - well worth finding - has a small Hawian type cafe on the beach - crystal clear water and not too many people!
There are all kinds of water sports avaliable on the main beach - not cheap (£60 for 30 mins) but they let you go out together unlike some places and you can clock 60mph plus!
This was our first visit to Corsica and we plan to return next year - might even ride our bike here! The are no football shirted larger drinking louts letting our country down anywhere in sight! The Corsican's love the British - we helped them out sometime back (I wasn't personally involved!) but they certianly made us feel welcome.
In summary - a wonderful hotel, fantastic staff and a lovely country - book now to avoid missing out!

Room Tip: You get a sea view from every room - the Superior rooms overlook the pool rather tan a sandy yard
