Outstanding luxury hotel in a quiet setting away from noise and traffic, and great value for the price. Ample parking lot with a space in front of the room, a rarity in Europe. Gorgeous pool with bar service. The bedrooms have fast wifi, the bathrooms include the usual thick towels and robes, and Annick Goutal products. Great clean, modern gym and spa which we did not use. The top-notch, romantic restaurant is worth the stay. The staff throughout the hotel are extremely attentive. When my wife needed a dress pressed in 20 minutes, a housekeeper appeared immediately, took the dress, and had it back to us in 10 minutes.

Firstly, I have to say that my wife and I had a great week-end and really enjoyed our stay. Staff was nice and helpful, the room was large and comfortable, the restaurant was quite good (but a bit pricey for its value in comparison to other offers on the island), breakfast is up to scratch and the skills of the Spa staff for massage and other treatments was outstanding. Finally, the view over Calvi (when your room has it not always the case I think) is beautiful.
I think what is missing to the place is a little "spirit" or "character". The buildings of the rooms are pretty square and boring, 70's looking balconies and "crepis" to cover the walls instead of using nice graniete stone or other fancy materials.
Again we're talking of 5-star accomodation here with the price that comes with it.

We picked La Villa largely due to the reviews here on Trip Advisor. When we arrived, we were upgraded to a suite, and it was an incredible room. We've been to some of the nicest hotels in the world and this room is at the top of the list. Nicely designed and furnished, they used top quality materials, and the landscaping was great. We had treatments at their spa (Massage, facial) and were extremely impressed. The facilities were top notch - from the swimming pools (beautiful, well maintained) to the restaurants. The staff had great attitudes and everyone was service oriented. We stayed at other #1 hotels while in Corsica, and none was at this level.

Now for the but...
Our trip to Corsica was around a birthday and we made reservations with the front desk for dinner at their nice restaurant. When we got there, they didn't have the reservation and turned us away. Of course, we pushed back and eventually got seated. Four Seasons would never do that. The same thing happened with our spa reservations. That disaster got diverted because I checked back (due to the restaurant issue). A couple of other little things: Breakfast is nice, but extremely overpriced at 30 Euro. A 5 star hotel like this should have a shuttle to downtown Calvi. Since a walk is unrealistic, they should make it easier to get to town.

We stayed here for 2 weeks, I think because of this when we arrived our room was upgraded to a junior suite which when we got to our room was lovely, the balcony overlooked Calvi Port and had a wonderful sea view.
The Terrace restaurant the food was bad and very expensive, we did try it twice just incase the first time the chefs were having an off day but no, well overcooked green beans with a dried piece of chicken breast on top £25, Veal after you had cut off the fat you only had two bites which came with some running mashed potatoe £28, we did not go back to this restaurant.
The Michelin starred restaurant was very good, pricey but the food was wonderful.
We had been told buy our rep that they charge alot as the season is short but really charging £8 for a very small diet coke, £8 for a small beer and £8 for a large bottle of water is going overboard, we have been to alot of 5* hotels before and have never paid this much for drinks.
The breakfast was ok if you like fruit, sweet cakes and buns, toast but as this is a French country I would have expected cheese and meats as well but this you had to pay extra for at £8 for 2 eggs (does this £8 seem to be cropping up alot), my Husband got in touch with our rep to see if anything could be done about this charge as he did not want what was offered, this was arranged but when he went to talk to the lady at reception she made him feel like an idiot "you dont want to pay, you want them free" he stated no he did not want to pay as he had already paid for what he was not eating in the B&B deal so why should he have to pay extra for something like 2 eggs, was 2 eggs so much more expensive than a massive table of fruit.
The hotel is does not realy cater for anyone other than French speakers, if you do not know any french do not go here. The TV channels in the room only have CNN, and BBC 24 that are English the other 18 channels are all French, there is no moviechannel, DVD player in the room either so unless you want to watch the news dont bother turning the TV on.
The Port of Calvi is only 1klm away from the hotel but if you don't use the free hotel transport it will cost you £12 in a taxi, the bars are good here and so are some of the restaurants which we went to most nights as we were not going to eat in the Michelin starred restaurant every night.
In all apart from the food (Michelin starred restaurant not included) the over priced drinks, and sometime the rude staff (not all staff as some were very nice) we had a good holiday, would I go back No but it was a good break and very relaxing.
