We just returned from the beautiful Ios island in Cyclades, Greece. Manganari Club Hotel is 40yrs old and is located in a really great spot. We were extremely disappointed by the overwhelmingly low hygiene levels, whereas the price corresponds to some 4* hotel.
The hotel manager, Emmy, sounded indifferent to accommodation problems, very snob (she is probably very happy with her ongoing-successful marketing effort) and finally did not even say a mere "thanks" upon our departure. The boat service that is supposed to take you to the amazing adjacent beach isn’t really there for you, so you’re stuck at the premises unless you become really annoying to the employees. The hotel charges $190/€150 for a double room (incl. breakfast & dinner) but maintains disgustingly old toilets, sinks, showers, plumbing, towels, sheets, closets, etc. Imagine a small pond in the bathroom center, right after maid service every day!
Overall poor quality for the price, way below the average Greek hotel service we’ve been used to getting. No wonder why the hotel doesn’t have a website – no commitments you see…
