We booked this hotel as a place to relax and chill for a few days after a fortnight visiting the cultural centres of Italy. Having read the description and seen the photos of the hotel on various sites, we were expecting to be able to sit out in the green and pleasant gardens in the quiet location of the hotel. How wrong we were.
The hotel is actually situated right on the junction of a number of busy roads, with only the pavement between it and the traffic. The garden mentioned in the official description is in fact two small terraced areas either side of the main entrance, just about accommodating a swing seat and a small table apiece, which are obviously provided as smoking areas. They are not areas in which you can sit and relax comfortably, given the fumes from the ashtrays and traffic and the lack of space.
The room itself was ok, although there were no seats to sit and relax in, and the AC was efficient, but the bathroom was small, shabby and tired and really in need of replacing. The shower in particular was cramped with a nasty shower curtain on runners which needed a good clean. The carpets throughout were clean and in good condition.
Even with the windows and shutters closed, the noise from the traffic throughout each night of our stay was loud enough to keep us awake. This was much worse than any noise from the places we had stayed in the centres of Rome, Florence and Venice.
The staff were pleasant enough. Breakfast was available but the food was all of the cheapest brands available and the choice wasn't great.
This was the second most expensive hotel at which we stayed in Italy (twice the price of a lovely boutique hotel in the centre of Rome) and I did not feel that the prices were at all justified. Had we been able to cut short our stay I would have done so.
