I loved this hotel. My stay was for two nights at midweek and then one further night (Sunday) in mid-May. The bed was very comfortable, the hardwood floors were shiny and bright, and the view from both rooms was charming. The bathroom contains one of those "phone booth" showers rather than a tub, but everything was spotless and convenient in its arrangement.
The hotel is located across the street from the Florence gate and is 5 minutes' walking distance from the P.F. stop on the Viterbo train, so location is excellent for those arriving or departing by train.
The staff understands English pretty well (I wish my Italian was better, but it's terrible, and they met me more than half-way). I appreciated their good-will and their low-keyed but cordial welcome. I was given a map to the town and good directions when I asked the location of a few of the landmarks.
I was visiting my niece, who is in school this year in the city, and I had such a lovely stay in this gem of a small, unspoiled, untouristy Italian city. The narrow streets and tempting shops are charming.
This hotel is a steal for the price. They serve a good breakfast, included in the cost. The last morning, when I had asked (in my incoherent Italian) about train schedules, they could not help me right at the time---just after I asked, a few guests appeared suddenly with suitcases, ready to check out---but they brought a print-out of the train-times from the Internet to me at the breakfast table. I hadn't expected that during their busy morning rush, but it is typical of the unobtrusive but attentive hospitality of The Nibbio.
This is not fancy. It's simply a quiet, very comfortable auberge with a very good staff. I was delighted with the hotel and will stay there again if I am ever lucky enough to visit this wonderful city again.
