Firstly, I have no idea what planet the 5 people are on who think this hotel is terrible, they could not be further from the truth!

We toured Italy in September 2011, we stayed in Venice, Florence, Rome, Seiano and finally Sicily, all the hotel's were 5 star and I thought this hotel was the best.

We were welcomed on arrival (at the front gate!), baggage took to room (with no pressure of tipping), a tour of hotel, offered glass of water and checked in with no issues.

We had the basic room (without the spectacular sea view), so the room was small but immaculate, everything felt brand new and was perfectly quiet at night.

The pool was perfect and easily had enough sun beds.

The breakfast was something else, freshly baked and plenty of cakes and delivered on a balcony with the best view.

As for evening meals, you really need to get down to the village (as the michelin star restaurant is expensive). The Hotel will drive you down to the village in evening, just remember to book your seat.

This hotel caters to the elite. Very upscale and quiet. Lovely views & excellent service. Included breakfast is gigantic, but dinner was disappointing. Staff was very nice & attentive. Biggest drawback was location as you can't really walk anywhere from there. Also, we had to upgrade to a bigger room - the smallest is not really livable, unless it's just overnight.

At first sight a truly 'grand hotel' with a Michelin star restaurant (excellent quality for acceptable price); however, several shortcomings don't make it a 5 star: small rooms with even no space to sit in a relaxed way, small bathroom a bit outdated with dustbin felling to pieces, no wifi on the premises except for the immediate surrounding of reception where they even don't have a table to put your laptop on; breakfast rather poor quality (no crispy fresh bread, only several cakes and a small selection of fruits) and sloppy service (they don't clean the table until you are leaving); the staff is friendly and helpful but after having paid (4 nights) no one asked how our stay was!

We had a great time at this spectacular hotel!! Room was very nice and the staff was first class!! It was a 10 minute walk to the train station which we always took to Sorrento!!
Get your tickets at the tabacco shop in town or just ask at the desk they have then also.
They have a great pool and don'y forget to go on the third floor viewing deck at night!! We had a great breakfast each morning You need to ask for eggs the way you want them, they are there to serve you!! What a view from the dining room, we loved the food at night, a little pricey but well worth it!!
