“We loved every minute of our stay at the Hotel Aequa and are already planning our return trip for next year!”
The Hotel Aequa is in a perfect location right in the center of Vico Equense. It is one block from the piazza in the town center, easily accessible to restaurants and shops, and a quick walk to the train station. And the town of Vico Equense itself is perfectly located for day trips. It is just 15 minutes by train to Pompeii in one direction to visit the Roman ruins, and just 20 minutes to Sorrento in the other direction for shopping, additional beaches and access to boat trips to Positano, Capri, and other destinations on the Amalfi coast, like Ischia and Ravello.
Beyond the great location, we were very happy with our accommodations at the Hotel Aequa. Our room was decorated with pretty Italian tiles and we had a beautiful view of Vesuvio and the coast. At breakfast every morning we had a selection of pastries, toast, yogurt and cereal. The hotel also had a large pool and terrace where we were able to cool off, relax and admire the view after returning from sightseeing and the beach. And the hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful, from the front desk offering to assist with reservations for restaurants, bus trips and excursions, to the wait staff, bringing us freshly brewed cappuccino and croissants at breakfast.
There were several local restaurants close by with authentic Italian cooking at very reasonable prices. On the first night we had amazing Neopolitan pizza at Pizza al Metro da Gigino, just two blocks from the hotel. Not only did the pizza taste great, but it was also fun watching it being made, tossed in the air, and baked in the large stone ovens. On our last night we dined at Terra Mia, right next to the hotel. The restaurant had a modern feel, the dishes were beautifully plated, and the pasta and seafood dishes that we ordered were all very fresh and flavorful. To finish things off, we ended several of our evenings, including our final night, at Gabriele's, a gelateria just past the piazza, where we enjoyed world-famous creamy Italian gelato.
We loved every minute of our stay in Vico Equense at the Hotel Aequa and are already planning our return trip for next year--hoping to repeat our wonderful experience from this year and planning to add some new memories, maybe a cruise down the Amalfi coast, maybe a trip up Mount Vesuvius, or maybe just more time to sit and admire the beautiful view.
