“Good hotel on coast”

This is a good hotel with a garage. We had a 2 room suite with a nice veranda. had the weather been warmer it would have been great. This is an excellent location to tour the amalfi and sorrento coast. Hotel ataff are helpful and friendly. Off-season there are not too many restaurants since many close for the winter. Pizza al metro is a great dining experience not to be missed.

Breakfast is adequate and they had whole fruit which was nice as well as the usual cold meats, cheese, breads and pasteries.

“Excellent views, excellent service, but...”

Excellent views (from terrace and at least half the rooms) and very cheerful, polite, friendly staff. Decor a little tired and the stair carpet, in particular, in need of replacement before it becomes a serious trip hazard! We stayed half-board as part of a Page&Moy package. Breakfast buffet was OK but with the exception of two special celebration dinners the evening meals were generally dull, with little choice and too much stodge. On that basis, would recommend on a B&B basis rather than half-board. There are a number of restaurants close by. Talking to other guests it would seem that rooms vary quite a lot in size etc and that some are prone to noise. Ours was OK but sounds of voices in corridors and doors banging could be distracting until the place had settled down for the night. Little of note in the town itself but a good base for exploring. To be honest, expected rather more from Page&Moy package hotel.

Room Tip: People with rooms overlooking the street complained about noise.

“Aequa Hotel, Vico Equense”

Our family of 4 adults and 4 children arrived at Aequa Hotel by taxi and stayed for 3 days. The taxi dropped our 8 large bags outside the hotel and within seconds the hotel porter collected them and took them straight to our room. The reception staff were friendly and helpful in organising trips to Pompeii and Amalfi.
Our rooms were large and very comfortable and the swimming pool was great. We left by Curreri bus for Rome and were delighted to find the bus stop right next to our hotel.
Overall we loved Aequa Hotel and were very sorry to leave.

“We loved every minute of our stay at the Hotel Aequa and are already planning our return trip for next year!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2011

The Hotel Aequa is in a perfect location right in the center of Vico Equense. It is one block from the piazza in the town center, easily accessible to restaurants and shops, and a quick walk to the train station. And the town of Vico Equense itself is perfectly located for day trips. It is just 15 minutes by train to Pompeii in one direction to visit the Roman ruins, and just 20 minutes to Sorrento in the other direction for shopping, additional beaches and access to boat trips to Positano, Capri, and other destinations on the Amalfi coast, like Ischia and Ravello.

Beyond the great location, we were very happy with our accommodations at the Hotel Aequa. Our room was decorated with pretty Italian tiles and we had a beautiful view of Vesuvio and the coast. At breakfast every morning we had a selection of pastries, toast, yogurt and cereal. The hotel also had a large pool and terrace where we were able to cool off, relax and admire the view after returning from sightseeing and the beach. And the hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful, from the front desk offering to assist with reservations for restaurants, bus trips and excursions, to the wait staff, bringing us freshly brewed cappuccino and croissants at breakfast.

There were several local restaurants close by with authentic Italian cooking at very reasonable prices. On the first night we had amazing Neopolitan pizza at Pizza al Metro da Gigino, just two blocks from the hotel. Not only did the pizza taste great, but it was also fun watching it being made, tossed in the air, and baked in the large stone ovens. On our last night we dined at Terra Mia, right next to the hotel. The restaurant had a modern feel, the dishes were beautifully plated, and the pasta and seafood dishes that we ordered were all very fresh and flavorful. To finish things off, we ended several of our evenings, including our final night, at Gabriele's, a gelateria just past the piazza, where we enjoyed world-famous creamy Italian gelato.

We loved every minute of our stay in Vico Equense at the Hotel Aequa and are already planning our return trip for next year--hoping to repeat our wonderful experience from this year and planning to add some new memories, maybe a cruise down the Amalfi coast, maybe a trip up Mount Vesuvius, or maybe just more time to sit and admire the beautiful view.
