This is a really nice, unpretentious hotel in a delightful location next to a large lake just north of Pisa. As police restrict access to the lakeside area, it is extremely quiet and upmarket. There are 2 classy restaurants very close to the hotel.
The hotel staff were all very pleasant and courteous and the room was clean and of average size. We had a balcony with a view over the lake.
We stayed only 2 nights and took the half-board option. Although the menu, from which one has to select some hours before dinner, was very limited and appeared unexciting, the meals were in fact delicious and the service in the quiet restaurant was excellent. If staying longer, the half-board option might become a bit boring, especially as soup appears to be minestrone each evening. Some of the wines are very reasonably priced and we had a very good Sardinian semi-sparkling for only €8.00.
The hotel was very quiet when we stayed on a Saturday and Sunday in early June. During the annual Puccini festival in July and August it is of course fully booked.
