“A very warm welcome in a home away from home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2010

A rather belated review I'm afraid but one which I am determined to submit of the wonderful stay I and my family enjoyed at the Sole Antico in September.
I am very fmiliar with Viareggio, having stayed here for many years with friends. However, as this was not possible this year I found myself for the first time looking for a night's accommodation to visit our friends and stop in this great sea-side city on our way north to Liguria to the Cinque Terre.
I chose the Sole Antico based on the TA reviews and am pleased I did - all the positive reviews are well founded and if like us, you are looking for a small cosy family run B&B rather than a large corporate hotel, but which is very beautiful, immaculately clean and has great character - then you will not go wrong here!
As has been mentioned many times, the hosts are a wonderful and very friendly family (including the dog "Mackenzie"!), the rooms beautiful and very comfortable, and the breakfast to die for!. The location is also great - I had been concerned that it would be too far away to walk to the attractions, but not at all, it's close to shops, a great simple and very reasonably priced family restaurant around the corner recommended to us, and only a 5-10 minute walk through the beautiful pine forrest to the passeggiata, the beach and sea.
My only regret is that our stay was for one night only - it will be for longer next time as I wouldn't hesitate returning and wouldn't consider anywhere else when staying again in beautiful Viareggio.

“The Best B&B you can ever found!”

We stayed one night in Viareggio, and we found B&B through trip advisor. We read good comments, but nothinig can express the personal service of Stefano and Elisa, the best breakfast you can get (home made by Elisa), so nicely decorated rooms, good location, etc. The place is very clean, spacious, you can buy natural products they sell from the Region, etc. The best experience you can have in Viareggio, no doubt!

“Fantastic B&B! Excellent service & delicious breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

This has to be the best B&B experience I have ever had. I stayed here with my fiancé at the beginning of the month and we had a great time, a perfect base to explore Viareggio. Stefano and Elena balance perfectly the art of personal hospitality without being too intrusive; i.e. they make a fuss over you at breakfast but leave you to your own devices during the day. Breakfast by the way is delicious and Elena's home baking is legendary. The location is ideal for visiting the beach, which is a five minutes stroll away. It is a twenty minute walk from the train station which we found easy enough with directions from google maps. If you are arriving out of office hours Stefano may be able to pick you up from the station. NB Payment is preferred in cash.

“Perfect Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

We loved this place. Stefano and Elena were great hosts. The rooms were clean, comfortable and charming. This is a 100 year old home that Elena has taken great care to furnish and decorate. She is a great baker and makes a wonderful breakfast.
It is a short walk to the water and promenade but a very pleasant one through the park.
We would definately go back there and recommend it to you.

“wonderful, nicely decorated, great breakfast, very personal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

In July we were staying for a weekend in "il sole antico". We found out about this small and great bed and breakfast in trip advisor. Elena and Stefano, the very friendly and helpful owners renovated this house by themselves. They did it with much love for the detail and also very personal. The rooms are fascinating, we stayed in "Iris" which is a large and blue room, we felt very comfortable.
Breakfast was delicious! Elena does a lot bakery by herself, bread, cakes an it tastes just great! There were also fruit sticks and yoghourt, nice latte macchiatto, a real treat!
We would stay anytime again in Il Sole antico!
