The hotel is well located. The rooms are a little bit small. Breakfast was very good. Overall, a good deal.

We stayed a week in July 2010 and our expectations were met almost every way. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the bedroom had a lovely lake view and the noise of the traffic was completely muffled by the double glazed windows. The air-conditiuoning kept the room cool. Cleaning was daily and we could have had sheets, towels etc changed every day if we had wished. Breakfast was good except for cooked items - bacon fatty and scrambled eggs stodgy. Car parking in hotel garage is very expensive but plenty of free parking around ferry terminal. However these are minor complaints - we would thoroughly recommend this hotel to all our family and friends.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Ancora on July 3rd and 4th 2010. The Hotel is directly overlooking Lago Maggiore and the Port so Ferry Access etc is very convenient. We had asked for a Lake View Room and were not disappointed. Our room looked straight onto lovely Lago Maggiore and was appointed beautifully which made the stay very comfortable.
On entry to the Reception Area we were taken with the furnishings generally and the glass desk and leather chairs immediately gave a feeling of class to the hotel. Check in was easy and very professionally managed and our prior booked parking was arranged and as promised was secure and just a few metres from the hotel itself. Any questions we had were answered in a friendly, professional and courteous manner and this professionalism was a continued theme during our stay. Breakfast was served on the ground floor in a well set up cafe style area. My wife and I took our breakfast each day out on the terrace facing the street and enjoyed watching the passing parade of locals going about their business or tourists like us setting out for the day. All in all our stay at Hotel Ancora was outstanding and the Hotel is in fact better than how it is represented which in our experience is quite rare these days. We have recommended Hotel Ancora to friends intending to visit the area in 2011.

While you cannot compare Verbania with Stresa or Baveno, so you might miss a bit of the old lake atmosphere, it is very nice and practical as a transport hub. The hotel is very central, in front of the ferry point. We booked a deluxe room with balcony and were very satisfied. Nice and modern design, exactly as you see on the website. Beautifull bathroom - free internet (1 computer at reception) - very good breakfast (well above italian standards). Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Ask them about parking, they have suggestions for free parking in the evening 100 m from the hotel.
