We spent a week on Lago Maggiore and we choosed this hotel because of his location: Intra is wonderful for shopping, has great restaurants and it's near almost everything.
It was a very pleasant surprise: the hotel is great in every way: the staf is extremely nice and competent, the owner always present (it makes a difference, believe me), breakfast was very good ( yummies croissants...) and our room GREAT (we were worried about the noise, but once you close the windows it was completely silent). Also parking was near, covered and secure (it's almost impossible to park in Intra during summer, so it did make a big difference.
I`m sure we will come back next year.

We stayed for 3 nights in the Ancora hotel! Ask for a room with a view ( of the lake...) and if possible with a balcony: it's great fun to watch the way Italian traffic unfolds... The rooms are very well isolated - no street noise at all once you close the windows . Comfortable beds, nice and well equipped bathroom.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Normally we go for breakfast to the bar around the corner as Italian breakfasts in hotels are not worth the trouble - but don't miss out on the breakfast in the Ancora hotel ! The harbour is straight opposite the hotel - take the boat to one of the islands or the villa Taranto with beautiful garden ( spectacular dahlias!)

We stayed at the Hotel Ancora for two nights in August. The staff were very helpful, the rooms modern and comfortable with large bathrooms, great linens, etc. The location is terrific right across from the lake and not far from the main piazza. They serve a very good breakfast. Pick this place; it's a no-brainer.

One of those smaller hotels located in a historic city centre. Nice period building, rooms mostly renovated (seen 2), rooms with lakeview are very nice, not luxurious but clean and modern. Wi-Fi. The breakfast is ok, the table of the bar outside a nice place to hang out and watch people. Parking is opposite the street (public parking).
