we were not planning to spend the night in the area, but this spot was too idealic to resist! a beautiful hotel with 5 star service, a spacious, clean room with balcony and view, and an outstanding dinner. we loved the entire experience!

We stayed here our first night in Italy, and even though the place is a bit difficult to find (it's quite high up on the mountainside), it's a very pretty hotel with and outstanding view over moutains and water. Our room was lovely and it had a large terass. The only downside was the restaurant in the hotel, the food was not god and totally overcooked.

My wife and I were visiting friends in Varese and we were looking for a quiet retreat out of the town. Sacre Monte was the ideal location. In the past I have stayed both at the Colonne and the Borducan, so it was a hard decision as to which one to choose. I opted for the Hotel Colonne which is a beautiful small hotel overlooking the town and lake of Varese. It is extremely peaceful and is a very romantic location. Carlo is the perfect host, and looked after us fantastically. He has ambitions for the hotel and hopes that he can attract other British tourists to the area. I would recommend that you try it out.
