Hotel Ungaria is a very comfortable, family-run hotel and is located about 2k from the centre of the Old Town; there is a lift to all floors. We had arranged, through the Hotel, to be collected from Malpensa Airport and our driver was waiting for us and had us at the Hotel reception in about thirty minutes.
Our Twin room was on the top floor with comfortable beds, an adequate bathroom and a small balcony with partial views of the Lago.
Breakfast was outstanding with a selection of cereals, juices, fruit, bread and pastries, cold meats and cheeses and tea, hot chocolate and coffee. Luciana and Simone were endlessly helpful with advice about restaurants, places to visit and, importantly, how to get to both. Their care was evidenced by them noticing it was my birthday and they presented me with a beautiful bottle of local wine on the day.
A word of warning though. The Electric bikes are great fun for close trips, say into the Old Town but low on capacity if riding the 30k circuit around the lake – their range is about 30k and the battery starts to flag just as you face an uphill, 3k ride back to the Hotel. Make sure you have a charger [supplied by Simone] with you.
Room Tip: Top floor rooms have lake views.
