“Fantastic”

Lovely hotel, with good sized room, all spotlessly clean. The staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Oscar the dog and the budgie, whose name we didn't get, very entertaining. Oscar makes everyone welcome! We were on half board and found the breakfast great, with a good choice. The evening meals were superb: compliments to the chef. A choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses and several desserts each night plus a salad buffet. Don't expect to lose weight! The system of choosing your evening meal at breakfast made the service even smoother in the evening: even with 20 plus guests the single waitress delivered each course promptly and with a smile. Little extras included hairdryer, soap and shampoo replaced regularly and hot meals kept back on two occasions when guests arrived late from trips or the airport (we discovered that other hotels had provided only cold plates for those who missed the dinner "slot", but not so at Hotel Angelini). This is a hotel where customer service is central to everything.

“Super family hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2008

We have just returned from a super holiday in Torbole made special by our stay at Hotel Angelini, owned and run by the Angelini family. They are charming and so very helpful... Guido even ran us to the ferry in Riva in his car !!!!

Food was good, breakfasts excellent with a wide choice.Rooms were more than adequate, Everything was spotlessly clean and nothing was too much trouble.

We loved Oscar, the dog, and Phillipo, the budgie, who welcomed guests .

“loved hotel angelini”

Our stay at hotel Angelini was brilliant the food was great we ate there every night because it was a very reasonable price and it was a three course meal, the rooms where spotless the maids came in every day, the staff where lovely they were kind caring and you didn’t have to wait for anything. it was a calm hotel ran by a lovely family who cared about everybody in the hotel. the pool was clean they had a very friendly dog named Oscar the kids loved him as they were missing there dog back home. as a family we would certainly recommend hotel angelini to everybody who goes on holiday to relax and for people who don’t want to get woken up by drunks coming in at all hours, it was quiet of a night and we all slept like a baby every night of the week we stayed, we are defiantly going back to hotel angelini next year as it was in the middle of lemoni, torbole (5 min walk into torbole) and Riva.

“Great Food & Customer Service at Hotel Angelini, Torbole”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2007

We booked a last minute holiday through Topflight to Lake Garda, allocation upon arrival at Verona Airport - 14 nights stay for two adults.

After some confusion as to our allocation, we were allocated to the Angelini, in Torbole.

Torbole is a smaller, sportier and quieter resort than the nearby Riva del Garda, and northernmost on the lake. The scenery is spectacular - your first glimpse on the descent to the lake will take your breath away.

We were allocated a small room at the corner of the hotel; this meant a small angled balcony and no window. I am unsure what the interior of the other rooms are like, but ours was perhaps overdue some redecoration - on first arrival, it was slightly disheartening. There were fabulous mountain views all round, but the road beside our room was busy, and we also had an unattractive view of the back door of the kitchen below to the left; complete with bins etc. No air-conditioning and no window meant the room could be uncomfortably hot at night.

However, we overlooked this, as the purpose of our holiday was to tour and explore, so we tended to leave the hotel in the morning, not returning until night.

Our observation was that there was a good age range in terms of guests staying at the hotel, and only a few kids. It's a quiet hotel, and should suit more mature travellers and those with no children.

Cleanliness was good - rooms cleaned to a high standard every day, towels, linen and soap replaced regularly. The beds were also comfortable.

I agree with the previous reviewer that the food in the hotel was absolutely delicious - breakfast (served from 8-10) involved a choice from cereal, breads, cheeses, cold meats, crackers, biscuits/cakes, fresh fruit salad, croissants.... etc etc. At the breakfast table, they give you a slip to complete to specify your starter and main course choices (which vary from day-to-day) for the evening meal (served from 7.30-8.30) - all superb .... deliciously al dente pasta etc. Then there is then a standard choice of desserts. The house wine is not bad at all and pretty inexpensive at circa four euros for half a litre jug! The waitresses were extremely helpful and responsive.

Only one thing slightly spoiled our enjoyment in the hotel restaurant. A large group (25/30) German/Austrian tourists had booked the Angelina at the same time. There seemed to be some sort of christian/windsurfing angle to their trip, judging by bibles spotted at the dinner table, and sporting equipment spotted elsewhere .... but the problem lay in their insistence in standing up in the middle of the dining room each and every night in order to deliver prolonged talks/speeches - while other tourists, ourselves included, were trying to relax and enjoy our meals in peace. We felt this was extremely rude and think that the hotel ought to have been more proactive in preventing this annoyance to their other guests...... but we didn't bother complaining about it and so we will give the Angelini the benefit of the doubt on this - I am sure that these German/Austrian guests were the exception to the rule.

Customer service standards in the hotel were generally high - the staff did not fail to promptly follow through on any requests or enquiries.

We went on a number of excursions organised by our resort rep, these included day trips to Innsbruck (Austria); Venice; Lake Tour; Wine tasting (if you're a red wine lover, try the Marzemino :-)). Using public transport, we went to Malcesine and took the Monte Baldo Cable Car (don't leave for home without doing that...)
If you take a hire car, many other options will be open to you - we did this and also went to Roverto; Verona; Milan; and Maranello.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

  • Liked — The location, the food
  • Disliked — No window in our room, tired decor.
