Villa Sobrano was a disappointment. From the website and publicity, which highlight Villa Sobrano's menu, my husband and I expected to be staying at an agriturismo, a working farm at which we could eat local food. But when we arrived and asked what time dinner was served, the owner told us without explanation (or apology) "We are not serving dinner this week." She was quite brusque and dismissed our obvious disappointment by pointing to a paper with recommendations for two restaurants in Todi (a lovely hill town).
Villa Sobrano is a small hotel with spacious rooms and lovely grounds adjacent to catering facilities which seem to occupy the owners' attention far more than guests in rooms. The housekeeper and the groundskeeper were both warm and helpful, which helped mediate the rudeness of the proprietress. Breakfast both mornings consisted of recycled stale pastries from the previous day. Not a good sign about what dinner would have been, so maybe we were fortunate that it wasn't being served?
If you want to see Todi and stay at an agriturismo with excellent food and a warm welcome, I recommend Antica Fattoria del Colle, outside of Deruta. It was everything Villa Sobrano is not.
