We arrived on Stromboli without accommoddation as our plans had changed last minute. There were a handful of people offering rooms to people coming off the hydrofoil, and we took a chance on this. We payed fifty euro for a double room including breakfast, which is a fantastic price. I guess it will cost more in high season. Our luggage was piled on to a golf buggy (there are no cars on Stromboli) and off we went. It felt like we were going a long way away, but there is a one way system so we had to go the long way. It is actually less than a five minute walk to the main piazza, and ten minutes to the port.
The rooms are set up like little cottages, set back with terraces amongst beautiful gardens full of flowers and fruit trees. We only stayed one night, so the small room was fine. The bed was very soft, but we collapsed in to it after climing the volcano and slept like logs! The breakfast terrace is lovely too. I'd happily stay here again, but for longer this time.
