We booked this place as it was very close to the beach. The sea view rooms are very nice as they have been recently renovated. The hotel itself is a typical 70s hotel with not particularly nice communal parts. We went half board the first day but soon regretted it as the hotel food is really nothing special and comes in tiny portions. On our second day we opted for a B&B solution and ate in the lovely restaurants in the old town. The view from out 4th floor room was truly amazing and we will go back there again. Just avoid high season as the whole ligurian coast gets packed! The hotel has a small parking, once that's full it's going to be a real nightmare to park your car!

We had a wonderful week in Sportorno, Italy, Staying on Hotel Royal. We had a superior room with frontal see wiew with half board. The hotel should be a four star hotel. The view from room are very great, only 30 m from the beach. The room it self was ok with aircondition, very good bed and new furniture. The TV ( if you want to use this) was very poor quality and small. The bathroom was simple. The staff was very kind and helpfull. The breakfast was very simple, not to be recommended, bread from last day, cheese only some times, cold eggs (boiled) long waiting time to get coffe or the. The breakfast was some of the lowest ranging we have got from a four star hotel (even a tree star hotel) The dinner in the evening was not bad - but also not good. The service was very slow, and after two dayes we dropped the dinner at the Hotel and went out in the city, where we got wonderfull food and service. The hotel has connection to the beach, where you can rent chairs and sunparasol for 25 euro per day. The beach is great, some stone, but very nice. The weather is always good in Italy and we had 32 C the hole week. To get a parking near the hotel is difficault so remember to book place to the car.
