We booked for 10 days in the Shackleton Hotel with our wedding on the 4th Feb 2011.
Davide and all of the staff at the hotel were brilliant!

We stayed with friends and family and the whole experience was superb!

The suite we stayed in was very spacious and good value.

The food and wine in the hotel was excellent thoughout our stay! the service was great and they catered our every need!

We had about 60 guests at our wedding and everything worked like clockwork! Everyone in the hotel did their bit to ensure it was a day and holiday to remember!

We will for sure re-visit the Shackleton and take Davide up on the offer to take us on a tour of the Milky Way!!

We stayed one night and were enchanted by the friendliness, the comfort and the attention to detail. Would recommend it for both winter and summer visits

Got here thanks to friends' advice and found a newly built high end hotel complex. The room was large and comfortable enough. Cleaned well but not to the standards of a high level accom. Dust under the beds and in the closet. Comfy bathroom with kid size jacuzzi bath and toiletries of inferior quality (Thermal , Thai inspired made in PRC items).
Quiet and pleasant location, with common terrace. Breakfast on demand and stuff to be asked before the DEADLINE. Otherwise staff flexibility wins and you will be charged for asking an espresso one second after the deadline.. 5 star customer service..what we expect from a Departures style kind of vacation. If things improve the hotel will gain lots.
The Swimming pool is nearby and excluded from room rate.. so where is the resort..after skying professionally a day shall we go in the steam bath or in a finnish sauna. AMEX holders beware ..they will do everything to make you feel alien ...

Think the pictures on the hotels own website are a little misleading, as they give you the impression that the hotel is on its own on a mountain. It is in fact amongst other hotels in the main town of Sestriere, and quite a strange looking hotel from the outside. However, I have no complaints once inside. We were given a very warm welcome, and the staff could not be more polite and helpful. It has a very individual and personal feel to it. We were shown to our rooms, which were a triple and a double and the facilities of the hotel. The rooms are very large and spacious, and very different. Quite modern interior. The bathroom was very large with large soft towels, a big choice of toiletries and a wonderful power shower and bath. If skiing, there is a very nice ski/boot room on each floor, which is heated and lots of space. If driving there is a large garage to use, which can be accessed from inside the hotel, and there is a charge of 5 Euro per night. Even though it was very late when we arrived, we were invited to the bar/lounge area for a welcome drink and snacks which was complimentary. This is also where breakfast is served, which is continental, with a big choice to choose from. There are large glass windows to look out of, and patio when warmer. We unfortunately only stayed the one night, but would have loved to have stayed longer to make use of the hotels facilities. Although quite pricey, it is well worth it, and a great place to stay and relax after a long days skiing!
