This hotel was our second choice for a weeks skiing holiday during the February half term holiday. We originally had planned to stay at the Banchetta but due to complications with sorting out the deposit we settled for the Il Fraitevino. I'm really glad we did. Our party of 3 dedicated boarders/skiers and one occasional skiier were very well suited with the location of this hotel - in the (quiet) central village square, 5 mins downhill walk to the main ski school and slopes whereas the Banchetta is located in old Sestriere - 3 kms away and seemingly accessible only by car/bus or chair lift. Our quad room was fine - not massively spacious (quad rooms rarely are) but ok for the time we spent there - clean, well presented and maintained. Breakfast was a good choice of bread rolls, toast, pastries, meat, cheese, eggs, preserves, coffee/tea & juice with freshly cooked omlettes, bacon and eggs. The hotel has a discount with many of the local restaurants, lift pass, ski hire and public swimming pool although there wasn't a plethora of local restaurants and the ones there were served mainly pizza (up to 84 versions on one menu !!) and most didn't open until 7-7:30 - great if there are two of you, not so good with young, ski-knackered children. The main Sestriere National Ski School is a little chaotic during the first few days but there are plenty of instructors (150) and some have great english. The pistes were also well maintained.
