Stayed at this hotel in late May 2006, after booking with a UK tour operator.
The location would be excellent, providing that the advertised shuttle service
to the local beach was consistent and punctual, although our half board package
would probaby have been better off as B&B or room only, in order to fully enjoy
the local nightlife and cuisine.
There are impressive views over Forio, from the outdoor pool area. The hotel
also has indoor sauna and pool facilities.
Inside, the hotel was impeccably clean.
The food standard is OK, but the evening dinner time, starting at 8.00 pm, is
rather late, and the policy of drinks being charged to the final bill (and
signed for) means that service is slow, leading to, a poor atmosphere at the
bar, following the meal. Entertainment, although not advertised within the half
board package, does not represent a 'gala evening' as indicated on the dinner
menu, one day a week - this consisted of guitar and singing for 20 minutes.
The pool snack bar was only opened 36 hours after our arrival. This, and the
main bar were very much understaffed, to the extent that, on one day, the
waitress was reduced to tears.
The mini bar in our room was not stocked.
Apart from the bar waitresses, and two of the waiters, the reception staff and
other waiting staff were rather sirly, unhelpful, and not particularly friendly.
The hotel is a reasonable base, from which to explore the island, although it
takes some effort to compensate for an expectation that a friendly and proactive
service might be provided.
