“Very Nice, a great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

We were married in Sorrento on September 8, 2011 and stayed at Villa Margherita along with several of our guests. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had a balcony with an amazing view. Loved the location, away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to be convenient. Short walk to the beach with amazing scenery. A great value.

“bargain hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

we had a great stay in the villa margherita for 5 nights in september. the staff were the most helpful i had come across with very good english and always prepared to put themselves out for you. room wasnt large or glamorous but very fairly reflected what we had paid. sadly the restaurant was closed during our stay. if we had known that before booking we might not have gone there. the road was quite busy during the day but quiet at night. breakfast was good. i would stay there again for the friendliness of the staff and the location and the cost.

“Great bargain, but . . .”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

The staff at this hotel is so friendly and attentive that I hate to say anything bad about it, but I would hesitate to return there. The public area is lovely and everything is scrupulously clean, but the rooms are tiny and the bathrooms miniscule. If you are sharing a twin-bedded room, you should know that the beds are placed so closely together that they might just as well be one--and there is no room on the other side of each bed to shove them farther apart. I had two different rooms. The double bed in one was comfortable, but the twin bed in another was thin and didn't provide enough support. Some rooms can be noisy. The continental breakfast is undistinguished (except for the cornetti--croissants--which are good). The hotel is a 15-minute walk to Sorrento; this didn't bother me, but it might be an issue for others. A bus to Sorrento also stops at the door. There are several restaurants within walking distance and a cheap takeout food place (Blue Island) opposite the entrance.

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms overlooking the street--they can be noisy.

“Nice hotel let down slightly by decor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

We stayed here for 3 days in September 2011 and enjoyed it very much. The staff were friendly and very helpful and this hotel had more of a feel of Italy about it than the more Anglicized hotels in the local area. The location was excellent and it was just 100m from the beach & cliff edge bar which offered beautiful views.

We booked a superior room and we were glad that we did as even this was a little shabby. It was very clean and comfortable and the aircon and double glazing worked well, it was cleaned everyday and the soaps etc replenished. The only thing that let the room down was the fact that it needed a coat of paint and was in desperate need of a new bathroom suite which was functional but very old and tatty.

The restaurant was closed when we visited but this mattered little as anyone visiting the area should eat at the lovely Ristorante Moonlight just 250m away. There was a separate dining room which served a plentiful and tasty continental breakfast

On the whole, we would recommend Hotel Villa Margherita and we would visit again. If Trip Advisor had an option between "average" & "very good" I would have firmly placed my vote there.

Room Tip: We stayed in 201 on the seaward side of the building which had a balcony & offered some nice vie...

“Would return to this hotel again!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Had a triple room which was more than adequate. Lovely and clean. Family run business which gave the hotel a nice local touch. All staff we were in contact with, were very friendly and helpful. Rooftop terrace had spectacular views. Close to some 'cheap and cheerful' restaurants and plenty in Sorrento itself. 10 minute walk on (usually) very narrow sidewalks or just the side of the road, to the middle of Sorrento. (You get used to it!) Better still, was a 2 minute walk down to La Terrassa where we you can sit and have drinks/cocktail or a meal/coffee and just take in the view of the Bay of Naples/Sorrento - day or night, it is a beautiful view!
We were on the first floor so the road noise was very noticeable when in the room. Given you're not usually in the room for the better part of the day, it didn't worry us.
