“Dirty rooms, unpleasant staff”

My Grand Circle group stayed here in early October when our regular hotel had a swimming pool leak that forced a partial closure. The first floor and outdoor public areas were attractive but my room was very dirty. I had to put the bedspread in a corner because it was definity too dirty to sit on and I never was without something on my feet because the carpet was so dirty. Housekeeping was so-so - I know the carpet was never vacuumed the entire week I was there because a small piece of paper that was dead center in a walk way was never picked up. The inside bar area was never lit and smelled dank. Staff was brusk and very unhelpful. We had two people with medications requiring medications and none was available. Our tour leader had to bring in a small refrigerator to accommodate this fairly normal need. Finally, this hotel is not within easy walking distance of Sorrento and their shuttle bus runs only twice a day.

“Good base for exploring Sorrento and Naples area”

This was an Omega holiday arranged through the Glasgow Herald Holiday pages. It represented great value for money with day trips to Pompeii and Vesuvius, Capri and the Amalfi Coast. The guide (Gino) on two days was great and on one day disappointing (she just would not shut up!) The hotel was comfortable, bit tired in places but with a good pool and poolside bar and seating. Our room was large and overlooked the pool (room 43). The air conditioning struggled to cope with the unusual heat - over 30 degrees and very humid but otherwise it was perfectly fine. Sure the balcony is small but good that it is there at all! Hotel staff are helpful. Breakfast is buffet-style and lacks a little finesse. In the land of citrus fruit the orange juice was truly awful watered down stuff. We drank water! The provision of fresh fruit was variable and the bread selection disappointing. Dinners were also variable - some folks opted out though it was half board. However that said it was adequate and we didn't go hungry. Just sorry that if fish was on the menu it always said 'surgelato' - frozen. Must be a margins thing. If you want to see this area and don't want to drive, a holiday like this is just perfect. We even enjoyed our walks into Sorrento - but take the back roads nearer the sea - not the main road - no pavement to speak of the mad and bad drivers! And remember - 4 star in Italy is not like 4 star in GB.

Room Tip: 3rd floor rooms facing pool are larger and quieter. Ours was 43. 45 was alongside. We asked for a s...

“If you want decent Italian food - don't eat here!”

Hotel itself is rather shabby with a 'damp' atmosphere. The carpets are severly worn and thin. The fact that the rooms are carpeted does eliminate a lot of noise albeit the walls are thin and you can hear the people in the room next door using the toilet!! The whole place (especially the rooms) is desperately in need of re decorating, new curtains and bedding and a general revamp. The furniture in the room was old fashioned and everything had a damp feel to it.
The food in this hotel is by far the worse I have ever experienced. Breakfast consists of cheap cardboard cerials, UHT milk, tinned fruit, runny yogurts which have never seen a piece of fruit and poor quality tiny sliced thin bread. The juice is some sort of strange concentrate which people only tried once because it was so disgusting. If you want orange juice, you have to pay for it seperately.
I went with my family (a total of 5 adults) and we only ate dinner in the restaurant once, which was enough. The potatoes were clearly leftovers from a previous meal and the vegetables were either out of a tin or froxzen and over cooked. One of our party ordered pasta with tomato sauce which wouldn't have even passed as soup. It was runny and tasteless. We were so dissapointed in the quality of the food, especially as we'd paid half board but decided our stomachs couldn't take it.
The poolside coffee was ok but the waiters made you feel uncomfortable by ogling you in your bikini, so much so that we made the men order drinks to avoid embarrassment. Don't eat lunch there either, their idea of a tomato salad actually is just a plate of tomato. If you'd like olives, you can have them but they're out of a jar. One day I was presented with a plate of sliced orange and prawns, nothing else. Of course I sent it back and stuck with tuna to be safe.
There is a great deal of traffic and it's difficult to breathe when walking on the roads due to the fumes. Sorrento itself is a truly beatiful place but this hotel badly lets itself down. I can't recommend and I certainly wouldn't go back.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel.

“Do Not go here if you don't want to have things stolen & get bitten by ants!”

1st things first, room was cleaned when we did not request it to be and on returning home I discover a dress, that i had not removed from my suitcase, was missing. Phoned hotel, was not left behind in room. Only one conclusion, one of the maids had taken it. If you stay here, lock your suitcase at all times!
2nd thing, ants- lots of them in room, got bitten ALOT!
3rd thing- noisy at night, music played ridiculously loud, yes I'd like to hear it when i'm at bar, but not once i've gone back to room.
This hotel is not a 4 star hotel, its not even 3rd star. Whilst in sorrento met other brits staying in other hotels which sounded lovely, stay in any other hotel other than this one is my advice!

“Not worth the money - Theres better out there”

This hotel is not worth the money we paid for our four night stay. We booked a standard room, which i thought would be reasonable given that its (allegedly) a four star hotel. It wasnt. The hotel actually looks pretty impressive as you approach it, beautiful driveway and lovely gardens. But the room was a big letdown, it was dark and dingy and old fashioned. It looked like it hadnt seen a lick of paint since 1985. Old bedspread, old carpets. Just not the kind of thing you want on your holiday. The pool area is the best thing about this hotel, lovely sundeck and loungers and a gorgeous pool. But i can honestly say thats the only thing going for this hotel. My overall impression was that the whole place was just a bit jaded, staff included. Its also a bit of a trekk into sorrento centre (about a 15- 20 min walk). Taxis are very expensive (20 euro for a 5 min Journey). If i was to go to Sorrento again, i wouldnt stay here, i'd go for a more central location. It looked like there was some gorgeous B&B's in the town centre.
