“Summer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

We are a group of young mountain bikers.
We stayed 3 days at the Park Hotel Gran Bosco and we really enjoyed it.
The staff is friendly and helpful and the food very good indeed.
The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable.
There is also the possibility of washing bikes and deposit them in a safe place.
Will definitely be back!

“Great hotel for skiing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

My friends and I recently booked the Gran Bosco for a skiing holiday away. We were given four rooms close to one another, ours was on the corner of the hotel and had a double bed and a door window with a nice balcony. The rooms are a good size with a comfortable bed. The only complaint I would have about the rooms is my parents couldn't turn their heating down and when they asked how to lower the temperature the receptionist told them the heating controlled the whole hotel so couldn't be adjusted for individual rooms! We slept with the windows open and shutters closed so the light didn't come in.
We collected our skis from the local ski shop we had booked through the hotel - it was a bit of a walk with skis but not too far. If you don't fancy the walk the hotel mini bus is very good and will drop you off at the shop if you ask.
The food is to a very good standard. After dinner we mainly went to the bar area which had comfortable seats and was quite quiet.
There is a spa area which is very nice after a full days skiing. It had a jacuzzi, sauna and shower (at an extra cost).
Breakfast is good, typical hotel buffett syle with cereals, yoghurts, breads, cakes, hard boiled eggs, ham, cheese.
The ski room is good and we never had to wait for the hotel minibus to take us to the pists.
All in all we had a great holiday with great snow, weather and made only better by the hotel :) Well recommended!!

“Cheap and cheerful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2008

Ok, booked this for a group of 14 ranging from beginners to intermediates. All young and looking for good skiing and a good range of activities and night life.

Travel: Flights were quick- around an hour and a bit. Food on them is also of a decent standard. Legroom is almost non existent. Turin airport is ok, very very slow with the bags- we were waiting an hour. Then got directed to outside the airport (a 5 minute walk) where the buses were waiting. It was a quick hour and a bit journey to the hotel. Arrived at the hotel (and had a 30 second walk uphill) at midday and had to wait until around 3 ish to check in for some unknown reason. However you can leave your stuff in the main lounge area with no problems. Hitched a lift to town with GIGI the taxi driver and got all the ski rental stuff sorted. When I came back checked into the room with no problems and got a spare key for the room too. Introduction talk was at 5.30 when we signed up for all the activities on offer, got ski passes etc. Met John the rep who is responsible for the hotel.

Room: Fairly basic but enough. A table, chairs, a decent bathroom and shower, a tv with satellite, decent beds and a balcony. The room can get a bit cold at night though. Make sure you get your shower early when you get back from skiing as the water can go cold. Cleaned by room service daily.

Facilities at the hotel: Ski's, boots etc can be left downstairs in the hotel. In the morning you walk to the bottom of the ramp outside the hotel and catch the bus (You can buy a 5 euro buspass for the whole week) this takes you to the ski lift that stops right next to the beginners areas and most of the ski lifts. Jacuzzi is there, but I didn't try it so no idea. There is a games room with an N64, Wii etc which should keep the kids and guys entertained. The hotel itself has a large and cheap bar area with Sky TV and a whole load of board games. There is also internet but you have to pay for a card to use it. GIGI the taxi driver is provided free of charge and he drives a minibus from 4-12pm back and forth to town. All the staff are very friendly and very helpful. The hotel itself is a ten minute walk from town where are the shops and clubs etc are so it's not really very far. Unfortunately after dark there are no taxis available at all, so it's either GIGI before 12 or a walk home. During the day the bus service is roughly half hourly and is quite reliable and easy to get.

Food: The breakfast is frankly what you expect from an Italian breakfast. You get cereal, cheese, ham, tea/coffee, bread rolls etc. There is loads of food available, but it isn't great quality. It will however keep you going til midday. When you arrive back at the hotel there is free tea and coffee on offer. In the evening (a rather late 7.30) you get a 4 course meal. This usually consists of some dodgy starters, a pasta dish, meat of some description then a dessert. The food is of mediocre quality and they provide so much you will never go hungry. One thing to note- Drinks aren't included and need to be bought, with the tab settled after the meal.

Activities: When we went there were events planned for almost every night. The hotel itself has it's own rep who unfortunately my party didn't have a great deal of joy with. He wasn't particularly helpful for example when I had problems with my ski pass and when another member of my party lost theirs. The activities included a pub crawl, a torchlight descent ski with meal, tickets to juventus vs intermilan, a bobsleigh, a trip to france (montgenevre), skidooing, a quiz and a slalom race. The rep failed to mention that there was a presentation for the slalom racers in the evening which coincided with the torchlight descent. We therefore had problems getting our slalom dvd and medals etc afterwards as you either did one or the other. Some of the activities were a bit steep but overall worth the cost.

Pistes: The runs are mainly intermediate quality. There are quite a few beginner areas but it's definately more set up for intermediates. I quite enjoyed myself on piste but most of the runs can be quite short and so you spent a lot of time on the lifts. It's worth heading over into the milky way to get some better and longer runs. The other parts of the milkyway don't take long to get to and have some decent runs. Montgenevre is part of the milkyway and is actually part of france. It's worth getting the bus over here instead of skiing. The beginners all seemed to enjoy the lessons.

Nightlife: There is a very good nightlife here. There not a great deal in the way of clubs which are quite expensive but there are loads of places to go for drinks (i.e. bars) and to get food from afterwards.

Overall I really enjoyed this holiday, it was cheap and cheerful. The hotel staff were lovely. In fact the only thing that spoiled it was the rep and his completely uncaring attitude. Otherwise would recommend it though.
