Booked what I assumed would be a two bedroom suite at the hotel but turned out to be a two bedroom apartment a couple of hundred yards down the hill ie 200 yards further from the ski lift.
That said the apartment was easily big enough for six although the lounge/third bedroom had little in the way of wardrobe/storage space if you were travelling as three couples.
I like this resort and have been here four times over the years but we use a different apartment every time. This one was by far the biggest and for pretty much the same kind of money as many one bedrooms in Sauze. Also had on-site parking (free) which is a bonus now that they've changed the on-road parking to 60 minutes only.
Resort itself is filled with good, reasonably priced bars and restaurants and the nearby Clotes lift is well able to cope with the queues even at weekends. This year was by far the quietest I've seen - may be because private schools this year appear to have broken up a week before state schools. Not true most years. Prices overall are down or steady for ski-hire and food. The recession is still hitting the Italians and the British tourists and folk from Turin are less likely to take a notion and spend the weekend skiing.
Top tip; There are two or three ski hire places in Sauze. The only one you want to be dealing with is Paulo Chalp who is situated right next to the Clotes lift. Ie just above the place you buy your ski pass. This means you can stroll in your shoes/trainers to the ski shop every day and pick up your gear from the on-site ski store. No heel-to-toe awkward 1/4 mile walk in your ski-boots with your skis and poles falling all over the place every morning, kids whining cos their feet hurt. None of that nonsense.
Tourist office is only 200 yards from the apartment (down the hill) and will sell you bus tickets to town where you can get a train into Turin. The trains still run on time. And, if you're my wife you can buy another fur coat. Because the last two you bought in Turin are different colours. Or not enough mink died. Or chinchillas. Or something. There are entire villages of mink who died to keep my wife warm.
Nice coats though.
Turin also good for the Turin shroud but these days all you see is a big box that allegedly contains the shroud. Information video is good though.
Skiing is excellent and lift system is vast. You can apparently ski to France from here although I've never managed it because I'm rubbish.
If you have a hire car then drive to Briancon in France. Fabulous walled castle full of shops and restaurants. Great trip in the afternoon if you feel as though you need a break.
