There is a megga hike (500 mtrs) from Turin terminal to coach park, so luggage with wheels is preferable. Coach trip from Turin to Sauze D'Oulx coach/bus park takes 80 minutes. Local info pack handed out during journey. You trek 300mtrs uphill from coach park to the Stella Alpina, whilst Your luggage is taken by local van to hotel. Welcome meeting at 5pm sorted pass + equipment hire vouchers and rep answered all guest's questions. Next door to hotel is the Eydallin Ski hire shop, with boot+ski storage in basement. Here there are racks and hooks labeled with Stella Alpina room numbers,so easy to find your gear each morning.
Meals times were set, breakfast 7:30 to 9:30am, evening meal 7:30 to 9pm. Cold buffet style breakfast. Various cereals, bread, crusty rolls, butter, ham, cheese, yoghurts, fruit, tea, coffee, fruit juice. There was a single George Foreman type griller which made nice ham+cheese toasties, though you had to be quick to avoid the long queue. Evening meal consisted of choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 sweets. Hotel preferred guests to attend promptly at 7:30pm. There was a self serve salad bar also. The following days menu was presented each evening to allow you to make your choices. Food OK, but a couple of the main courses served during the week not so good. The room was fine, and beds very comfy. LCD TV mostly Italian channels, no BBC, but did have USA CNN round the clock news. The ever friendly hotel owner, Caroline (English)was always ready to see to requests. Her staff, mostly locals, were extremely pleasant, especially the ladies that greeted you at mealtimes
with a huge smile and a big "good morning/hello" . Wifi was available in hotel room, you ask reception for the access code. You get 1 free hour to cover the week, ie. about 8minutes per day. You could upgrade to constant access by paying 5 euro.
My standard hire skis were not so good (£75), so I paid 20 euro to upgrade to superior set, it made a huge difference. Due to lack of snow, we couldn't use the "Magic carpet conveyer belt" directly outside the hotel that took you to the nearby Clotes chairlift. This meant that each morning we walked 300 mtrs uphill to this lift. Alternatively, a free bus would take you to the Sportina lift nearby, but bus usually full, so we didn't use it.
Apres ski at 4pm, we usually ended up in the hotel's bar "Scotch bar". Most beers were 4 euro per pint.In fact most of the local bars also charged 4 euro too. There was a happy hour 2:50 euro in a couple of local bars. If you fancied a cooked breakfast for a change, several places in the town offered full English, all seemed to charge 8 euro.
Paddys bar nearby had free wifi, and was packed most nights.Downhill in the town square we found the Derby (quiet), and the Queens pub (jammed on quiz night). Clubbers could dance away into the early hours at the Cotton club. Your 6 day lift pass includes one day (if you decide to use it) on the French Montgenevre slopes. You can reach these by ski/board, but
beware it is a 2 hour marathon of ski runs and lifts/drags various. Neilson ran a return bus to French slopes on the Thursday, cost 20euro (Passport needed). This resort has few green and blue runs, so not best for beginners. Sportina area OK, Sestriere was more challenging. If it gets windy, beware that some lifts close down. If you are on the wrong side of the mountain when this happens, you may end up with an expensive taxi ride back. Saturday is a bit hectic as many Italian families take to the Ski slopes for the day. The vast majority of resort visitors were from the UK. Also beware, that in the unfortunate event that you injure yourself, the local medical people want payment in cash. No good telling them that insurance will pay. You pay cash then claim it back from your insurer. Neilson reps very good, though ours, Amy, was very loud. Such a big voice for a little girl. Final day pickup at 6:15am after the hotel provided biscuits, juice, coffee and tea. Overall, a great week, and hotel definitely recommended.

Overall, Sauze D'Oulx and the Stella Alpina hotel were near perfect for a medium cost ski break.
