“Get what you pay for but a smile costs nothing”

You do get what you pay for, especially in Europe. The walls are very thin and you can hear the shower from upstairs louder than your own. My main gripe is this is a family run hotel and the owner was exceptionally miserable as mentioned before hard to get to smile and avoids eye contact, which does not make you feel welcome. If you are in the hotel business surely a smile and eye contact is a must and at the end of the day costs nothing...........

“Good Hotel..Needs Updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2011

Having just returned from an fantastic Ski Holiday to Sauze I thought that I better review the hotel.First impressions are that the hotel is very basic ,but is adequate enough. The welcome from the hotel owner was very nice as she described where our room was and an bit about her family run hotel. The hotel is in an good location as the village is small and is about 5 mins walk away from the centre where all the pubs were.
Breakfast was served everyday from 8am to 10am and consisted of Cereal, toast, yogurt, fruit, cake and some meat. This was perfectly o.k and was always replenished when it had gone. The hotel also has its own ski storage which is an great bonus as you dont have to pay €25 to hire an locker for the week.
The rooms were always very warm and were cleaned everyday to an good standard. As saidbefore the rooms were very basic as they had no Kettle,T.V and the fixings on everything were falling apart.
However one small gripe would be that the walls are like bits of paper and you can have an conversation with the room next door.It was very noisy and could be worse depending on who you have next to you...
To conclude the hotel is in an good location and the staff are very welcoming but it is very basic and needs some money spent on it...

“Ok base but very noisy!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2011

I stayed at this hotel with my fiancé. We got a cracking deal so wasn't expecting luxury. The hotel is in a central location. Rooms are clean, warm but dated. Beds were comfy and breakfast was satisfactory. The only drawback was it was so noisy the walls are paper thin you could hear the people in the next room talking and doors banging throughout the night.
Due to this I wouldn't return to the hotel.

“Wouldn't recommend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2010

We booked this hotel as part of a last minute, budget ski holiday with Neilson/Thomas Cook. We read the reviews after booking so were expecting the worst. Unfortunately, we got what we were expecting.... The rooms were dark, dingy, tatty with paper thin walls and overheated to the point where you'd wake up in the night gasping for water and groggy in the morning. The cleaning of the rooms was ok though and the beds were comfortable enough. On a plus side the shower was hot and powerful which is a must on a ski holiday! Perhaps we caught the landlady having a bad week as she hardly cracked a smile during our entire stay (and we were certainly not a bunch of rowdy yobs to be wary of!). She hardly looked at us even when we were checking out. This to me is the main reason why I would not recommend staying at this hotel. We left feeling that they did not deserve our business. We completely understand that this was a budget holiday but we paid a similar price last year in Austria (through Neilson also) and stayed in a wonderful, friendly guesthouse so perhaps that raised our expections too high?

“Really Needs Some € Spending”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2010

I agree with everything that JMio wrote below regarding the Sayonar hotel, warm, clean, comfortable beds. The staff had poor English but the owner or her husband was always around whose English is very good.

It was near to everywhere, but there again everything is close to everything in Sauze D`Oulx.

However the rooms are poorly insulated for noise. You can hear your neighbours clearly which included the use of toilets or coming and going from their rooms along the hallway. The culprit seems to be the poor quality doors both to hallway connecting doors to the rooms

the room was dark and had wooden panels on the walls together with the old furniture (not that there was anything wrong with it) it made the room feel dark and so old fashion. some Euros spent on new furniture and some paint would make a world of difference. There was one single electricity point in the room

Breakfast was very poor, some cheap ham that was not available everyday, toast with a selection of a few jams or wrapped cheese or cereal, but the milk was room temperature. The Orange was very weak . Coffee was good!

My review seems so negative, its not meant to be, The price paid was cheap enough to have breakfast out. The furniture is just cosmetic and as said this does not distract from the fact the room is warm and clean and the bed comfy.

The only serious negative is the noise

Would I stay there again. Yes as long as it is a bargin
