“New year 2012”

Read trip advisor and got the mixed reports. For the money paid this little hotel was fine. Very convenient to the main town square and bars. yes there were a few noisy guests but some choice words by another guest next morning got them under control . two rooms one bathroom for three guys was fgood. Walls thin , but hotel clean and warm, bed ok, simple breakfast ok. I would stay again but sauze uplift and snow compared to neighbouring resorts left a bit to be desired, but never say never if conditions are good

“Pleasantly Surprised”

I have recently returned from a family holiday to Sauze D'Oulx over Christmas, staying in Hotel Sayonara. We were slightly dubious after reading reviews on here and hearing what people had to say but we were very pleased with what we got. We went with the attitude of 'make the most of it' and for the price that we paid and the fact that the hotel is 2*, we were very pleased. The rooms were very clean, bathrooms were spotless and linen clean (if a little worn). But that was absolutely fine, we weren't expecting luxury.
The breakfasts had plenty of choice and the staff were friendly and smiled, if you smiled at them! Also, we took earplugs as you have to expect some noise in a large hotel.
I think Hotel Sayonara is the perfect example of what a budget hotel is like, a bit outdated but clean, tidy and most importantly, cheap! We would all happily stay there again

“Worst 'Hotel' Ever, dont stay here!”

Like many others, we unfortunately read the reviews after booking this place. We knew it was a budget holiday but this hotel was terrible.

We stayed an hour in the place. The rooms were small, dirty, dark, dingy, poorly decorated, the walls were SO thin you could hear the next door neighbours spraying deodrant, the street noise was bad....the owner was a sour faced cow, very unhelpful. We booked a double and got a twin, she refused to change it.

Credit to Neilson, i read a bad review of them on here and disagree. They were excellent and sorted us out with a hotel change, within 3 hours. They were very understanding, clearly used to complaint regarding this accomodation.

We ended up at the Hotel Debilli (or something like that!) and it was excellent, good food, good staff and better location, for very little more money.

Please dont make the same mistake as us and go here!

“Clean and Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2011

I went to Sauze d' oulx in March for a week skiing. This is the second time i've been, the first time was 6 years ago and we stayed in Jovenceux which we found out was a 15 minute walk to the resort centre. This time we decided to look to stay a bit a closer. We found the Sayonara which we paid £350 for B+B. I read a few of the reviews before going there and saw complaints about wall paper falling off the wall, dirty linen, and rude staff. I've been skiing for 14 years and stayed in some great places and some rather shabby places. On arrival to the hotel at 2pm we were told the rooms weren't ready and to come back at 4pm. No problem for us as we had a walk around the village sorted out our ski hire and had a beer or two. The Sayonara is about 5 minutes walk away from the resort centre. About 10 minutes walk to the clotes chair lift with a couple of slopes to walk up. If you see one of the orange resort bus approach stick out your arm and they stop for you.

Once we got our room I was pleasantly surprised. There was four of us sharing a room on the second floor and we had two bedrooms rooms with two single's in each. The rooms were quite spacious and we had loads of cupboard space for clothing and storage. The wallpaper was a dull brown colour but I couldn't see any peeling away and the linen was clean and the rooms we found were cleaned daily. We had one bathroom to share which had a shower and this was very hot and powerful, just what you need after a day on the slopes, the only downfall was that when the fan came on in the bathroom we had a horrible peroxide smell appear which we couldn't get rid of.
We found the staff were helpful and gave us a smile every morning at breakfast. The breakfast was the same everyday consisting of mixed cereal, ham, rolls, bread for toasting and the usual drinks. We never drank in the hotel in the evening because there were more lively bars in the village. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and the ones we ate in were always good food at good prices.
I would recommend this hotel for people not looking to pay to much. There are better hotels in the resort but you will pay about £200-300 more. This was clean, warm well located and good value.

“Basic but good value for money”

My partner and I had a fantastic week in Sauze D'Oulx. We were pleasantly surprised at the Hotel Sayonara. The hotel was basic but spotlessly clean. The bus to the chair lifts stop right outside and are approx every 10 mins and its only a minutes walk to the centre of town. As other reviews have stated yes the walls are thin but after a full day on the slopes you don't notice it. Hotel Sayonara is great value for money and we would happily stay there again.
