My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week from 9th January whilst on a snowboarding Holiday with Neilsons.
The hotel whilst rated as a 2* was much better than most of the Skiing accomodation we have been in. The rooms were huge with a shared balcony, clean tidy bathroom and two single beds. (We joined these together) which made sleeping a little uncomfortable but the beds themselves were comfortable.
The staff at the hotel were great, very friendly and always willing to help (and oftern memorise your drink you order at the bar! he he) The food was buffet style, breakfast was continental (minus the hard boiled eggs and croissants) but we never went hungry. Evening meal was again a buffet with a dessert. There was always plenty of varienty of food and my boyfriend who is a vegetarian was happy. The evening meal did get a little repetitive de to the style (chips, vegetables, various typed of salads) but again better than some other 2* hotels we have visited. The town has many restaurants and bars which serve food if this does not suit you.
Florida prata is a short walk up from the coach park. The resort is a coach free resort so you wither have the option to leave your bags in a pile to be collected by a van, or take them with you. Neilsons do not accept any liability for bags left so we opted to take ours with us due to tehvalue of snowboards etc. I guess this was a downfall but not teh end of the world. Further up hill and past teh majority of the bars is the clotes chair lift, teh ski bus also stops right outside the hotel and stops in the town (sometimes) and at Clotes and Sportinia chair lift...this was great! Towards teh end of teh week i did get a little tired of the walk but that just me being lazy!
Neilsons organised some fab excursions, the trip to Montgeneve in France and teh torch lit decent were great, we also went to the quiz night which was good, however i did expect some more 'resort' related questions (based on other ski holiday quiz nights i have been to).
The resort as a whole is great, Paddy's Irish bar was our favourite haunt, with good value Drinks (especially during happy hour), free nibbles and great live music on most evenings. The resort wasn't rowdy or full of lots of young people (which i think was the reputation it has previously had) on the Piste, the slopes (mainly red) but nice wide red and great, not suited to beginners but if you have had a weeks experience on a board (like i have) you will be able to get down dome how...dignity intact is another question! I had some one on one lessons which were a real help and i cannot praise the ski school enough, i cannot remember the name but the ones Neilson support and they wear red. I had to have one on one as there wasn't a group suitable for 'inetrmediate' in teh group lessons (bit of a downfall) but teh 1 on 1 attention was great and helped so much!
There isnt much else to say really, i probably wouldnt come here again as there are so many other reports to experience but when i run out...this will be on my list. Italy is great value and usually great conditions!
One thing to watch is at the airport, from my 2 trips to italy experience teh Italian airports are chaos, they are a little slack loading baggage and checking people in. This seems to be the norm.
Ciao! x
