“Fantastic value for solo traveller”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I stayed at this hotel over Christmas 2011. I had a single room at no supplement, which was great by single room standards. The bonus was it had a balcony too. It was clean - though basic (no tv ect), decidedly antiquated bathroom, but fully functional bathroom - with plenty of hot water. There was a shower/hip bath. It was warm and cosy and by far the best single room I have ever had. I had read other reviews which said it could be noisy - so took the precaution of ear plugs, but didn't need them.
There was a great choice of buffet style food, excellent soups and anti-pasti dishes. There was always a choice of two main courses and the hotel excelled themselves with the effort the put in for Christmas day evening meal (which was served). I felt the only let down was there was nowhere really comfy to sit in the bar area, as it was wicker summery furniture - which I presume was transfered outside in the summer months! the staff were really friendly and helpful and the bar prices were excellent 10 euro for a litre of house red or 2 euros for a glass of prossecco. I would certainly return to this hotels as it is in a great location - ski bus stops directly outside for Sportina or you can walk in about 7 minutes (in ski boots!) to Clotes.

“NOT VERY NICE!”

When we stayed in this hotel we didnt expect it would be like it was! we payed nearly 1000 pounds for a week in december and the food was plain, the same every night, bland and all there was was chips and noodles with 2 choices of meat which were occaisonally cold! we could not sit on the toilette because of space! could hardly wash in the shower as space was extremely limited! the room gave a terrible sewage smell all week. balcony door would not close! cleaners constantly left the window open therefore anyone could get in and steal belongings! my boyfriend tried the shutter and it collapsed so the person who ran the hotel had to take it off completely! the only thing that was good about the hotel is it was warm, staff were friendly and there was a pool table! however, i would highly recommend sauze d'oulx! it was my 3rd stay there, NYE is brilliant! people are friendly and skiing is very good :)

Room Tip: corner rooms are larger - rooms 19, 20, and 21 are not nice!

“Good value, good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2011

We stayed here HB in Jan 2011. The hotel is well located in the heart of the village, great location for apres ski, walking distance to the chair lift and a bus stop outside for the ski bus to the chair lift. Hotel is a good standard 2*. Our room was warm and spacious, with maid service every day. Food was of a good basic standard and we left full after every meal. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had no problems with late night noise, apart from the occassional late night reveller trying to get into their room - typical in any ski hotel! Only grumble would be the ski storage area (external timber shed with no heating), but for the price we paid not sure we could really expect a deluxe heated boot room. Good value, great hotel for couples or groups.

Room Tip: Rooms with a bath have bigger bathrooms.

“It's two star for a reason”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

Stayed in the prata in Jan 23rd 2011 for 1 week there's no need for a detailed review basically it's a 50yd walk to the bus stop or a 800yd walk to the 1st chair lift, it's a 10 min walk from the coach to the hotel, book lessons with the red school at the welcome meeting and it's dirt cheap the blue ski school will tell u they are better but they don't say their 3 times more expensive! The rooms are basic but warm and dry I'm a plumber by trade and the bathrooms were ok the water pressure was adequate and enough hot water just have to let the tap run a while, the bars not cheap either but the rooms are cleaned daily and there's a wooden shed outside to put ski's and boards in which is locked on a night but no drying room! The two main reasons I wouldnt stat here again the noise from the nightclub opposite till 5am i like to party but everynight was abit much! The other reason is the food is edible but very poor same thing every night with chips and cold at that!! Get to paddy mcgintys Irish bar up the road have a word with Charlie the manager he put on free pizzas if we drank in there so we didn't eat much in the hotel it was that bad and happily paid £8 for a full English on a morning! Hope u find this useful I don't normally write reviews but def not a family hotel with the noise from the club and the food was so poor if we'd have gone just BNB it would have been better

“Huge room..Good location..Well done Neilsons!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week from 9th January whilst on a snowboarding Holiday with Neilsons.
The hotel whilst rated as a 2* was much better than most of the Skiing accomodation we have been in. The rooms were huge with a shared balcony, clean tidy bathroom and two single beds. (We joined these together) which made sleeping a little uncomfortable but the beds themselves were comfortable.
The staff at the hotel were great, very friendly and always willing to help (and oftern memorise your drink you order at the bar! he he) The food was buffet style, breakfast was continental (minus the hard boiled eggs and croissants) but we never went hungry. Evening meal was again a buffet with a dessert. There was always plenty of varienty of food and my boyfriend who is a vegetarian was happy. The evening meal did get a little repetitive de to the style (chips, vegetables, various typed of salads) but again better than some other 2* hotels we have visited. The town has many restaurants and bars which serve food if this does not suit you.
Florida prata is a short walk up from the coach park. The resort is a coach free resort so you wither have the option to leave your bags in a pile to be collected by a van, or take them with you. Neilsons do not accept any liability for bags left so we opted to take ours with us due to tehvalue of snowboards etc. I guess this was a downfall but not teh end of the world. Further up hill and past teh majority of the bars is the clotes chair lift, teh ski bus also stops right outside the hotel and stops in the town (sometimes) and at Clotes and Sportinia chair lift...this was great! Towards teh end of teh week i did get a little tired of the walk but that just me being lazy!
Neilsons organised some fab excursions, the trip to Montgeneve in France and teh torch lit decent were great, we also went to the quiz night which was good, however i did expect some more 'resort' related questions (based on other ski holiday quiz nights i have been to).
The resort as a whole is great, Paddy's Irish bar was our favourite haunt, with good value Drinks (especially during happy hour), free nibbles and great live music on most evenings. The resort wasn't rowdy or full of lots of young people (which i think was the reputation it has previously had) on the Piste, the slopes (mainly red) but nice wide red and great, not suited to beginners but if you have had a weeks experience on a board (like i have) you will be able to get down dome how...dignity intact is another question! I had some one on one lessons which were a real help and i cannot praise the ski school enough, i cannot remember the name but the ones Neilson support and they wear red. I had to have one on one as there wasn't a group suitable for 'inetrmediate' in teh group lessons (bit of a downfall) but teh 1 on 1 attention was great and helped so much!

There isnt much else to say really, i probably wouldnt come here again as there are so many other reports to experience but when i run out...this will be on my list. Italy is great value and usually great conditions!

One thing to watch is at the airport, from my 2 trips to italy experience teh Italian airports are chaos, they are a little slack loading baggage and checking people in. This seems to be the norm.

Ciao! x
