We stayed at the Hotel Villa Cary in early Feb 2011 and had a great time at the hotel and on the slopes.
The hotel is well situated for all the shops, bars and restaurants yet still quiet enough at night. The bus stop for transfer to the two lifts is situated right outside, and the owner Marilyn sorted out ski and board hire for us from a shop opposite which offered really good quality gear.
The staff are mainly family members, very welcoming and friendly. Evening meals were set menu, and the food was always plentiful. The food courses weren't the most inventive and a bit like school dinners but always good quality (always a pasta or soup starter, mains were roast beef and mash, chicken and chips, pork and potatoes, then dessert would be ice cream, fruit or pudding of some sort).
The rooms are dated but always clean and very comfy, ours even had a balcony. The bathroom was similar, but all three rooms we had suffered from showers that often ran lukewarm. Must be a plumbing problem and I must admit we forgot to mention this to Marilyn so possibly there is a simple solution.
We had a great time on the slopes with plenty of runs in the Milky Way, good snow, sun and blue sky all week. Sauze also seemed good value compared to other ski resorts (3-4 euros for a beer, 2 for wine).
The only other point I'd make is the booking process for Villa Cary, as I had to transfer our deposit in euros rather than simply over the phone or internet with a credit card. The bank transfer was hard work as it has to be completed in a branch because it is international, and most banks charge a fee.
All in all though a good value hotel and we really enjoyed our stay!
