Just home from Riva del garda and must express how beautiful,romantic and safe this place is.Totally Yob-free! The culture here is addictive. All ages can mingle together and enjoy the wonderful surroundings including the sailing,water sports, the walks and the boat trips to the various picturesque villages around the lake,NOT to mention the ITALIAN CUISINE which is enhanced by their smart dress, proud service and slow pace of the meals , their excellent WINES,their premium larger NASTRO AZZURO and their classy restaurants like LEON D' ORA and the VOLT,both a must for those that enjoy the occasional quality dining experience.
While well mannered children are adored here ,Riva is more suited to all aged groups, all couples and super for family occasions.
Normally we stay half board [B+B is far better and less regimental] at the magnificent GRAND HOTEL LIBERTY with its superb facilities and staff, but this time due to tragic circumstances we had to cancel our planned holiday and grab a late deal. Regrettably we picked the ENGLO-VACANZE apartments.While the self catering apartments were clean and spacious as stated in previous reviews,the place badly needs a serious face-lift and a change of management. The place has fantastic potential but sadly it appears to be slowly dying.The swimming pool is not inviting nor is the garden area and the out-side furniture is tired.The place needs better and proud maintenance staff. Apart from the POWER-WALKING ,STROKE-SLOPE from the edge of the town up to the apartments, the broken and uneven drive-way is not only dangerous, but looks bad and robs you initially of the holiday feeling .Only those seeking varicose veins would welcome the climb home up this steep slope.If you enjoy a nice meal and a bottle of wine down the lovely town,which is only five minutes walk [downwards from the apartments] get a taxi back [ 8 euro and takes 3mins] this will take away stroke fear.We made a mistake with this accommodation but this
will not stop us from returning to Riva
