We stayed at the Hotel Garda in early September 2011 in the beautiful resort of Lake Garda. It is perfectly situated between Torbole and Riva near a main road. However don't let that put you off as it was one of the quietest hotels we have ever stayed in! This may have been attributed to the fact that during our stay, almost all the guests were very senior in age. The room was spacious and well furnished. The food on the whole was very good particularly the continental breakfast. One of my my gripes however, was the swimming pool which despite being 35 degrees, was the coldest pool I have ever been in!!!
All the staff were helpful and friendly with the exception of one waiter called Giovanni. He was rude and very unfriendly. We were always polite and never once complained, but his attitude to other guests, most of whom were German, was totally different laughing/smiling with them. We thought maybe he disliked British and/or younger people. Either way, there was no justification for his behaviour. I was loathed to name him but his attitude in my opinion was so outrageous and blatantly obvious, I hope this review causes some embarrassment like he caused to us.
I wouldn't rule out staying here again but if it wasn't for the waiter, I would have given 5 stars.
