“Comfortable hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

The twin room was spacious with a good size bathroom with a shower. Food ok with exception of the vegetables which were more than well cooked, quite mushy. The gala evening menu was very good with plenty of variety.
Location good for local transport as the bus station was within walking distance of the hotel.
Reception area a bit dark but plenty of seating area.

“welcoming,clean and comfortable!”

On arrival at this hotel it was late evening,we were welcomed by the staff and food and drinks were in waiting.
Our luggage in the meantime was delivered to our clean comfortable rooms which were quite spacious with balcony and fully air conditioned which we needed.
Breakfast was adequate with a selection of cereals, fruit, youghurt, croissant and fruit juices.
The evening meal started with a more than adequate fresh salad bar with which you could eat as much as you like, followed by either a pasta or soup dish with a variety of bread and rolls on offer served to the table by the very welcoming and pleasant waiting staff. Then followed the main course of which was a choice made at breakfast time from a menu provided. Not all the main courses were to our taste however telling this to the waiter an alternative was offered. (If you don't ask you don't get). The meal was finished in the usual manner of desert also served to the table.
The all inclusive package meant that we could help our selves to drinks between the hours of 1200pm and 1000pm which included local beer, white and red wine, water still or fizzy and tea and coffee and so was also more than adequate.
the town of Arco is a small medieval quiet place with a fantastic ruined castle sitting on a rock offering clear views ona nice day.
We had many trips out around lake garda which were all fantastic with so much to see and do.
The long and short of then is that the staff in this hotel from the maids to the waiters and receptionists were all excellent with local knowledge and good humor!!
I am a big fan of you get what you pay for and in my opinion we got just that. This was not a top end five star hotel and it gets it's fourth star for the wellness centre situated on the ground floor which also allowed us use of the indoor swimming pool, sauna and spa.
Overall clean comfortable and adequate for the price of our holiday and would recommend to fellow travellers.

looking at all the reviews of the english people.do we not realise we are in different country so we have to accept their culture.had a wonderful week in the hotel the staff were very obliging.nothing was too much trouble for them,i have a special diet i have too keep to and they were more than understanding.ok its not a four star hotel but it warrants at least three stars just for the staff alone.i thought all the waiters made you feel welcome and had a laugh and joke with you.really made me and my husband feel welcome, would definately come again

“worst hotel we have ever stayed at.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

I can only concur with the previous reviewer, who was a fellow traveller on our tour. every thing he has written is true, in some of his comments i think he has tried to be conciliatory, i unfortunately cannot be that magnanimous, it was, as i state in the title of this review the worst hotel i have ever stayed in any where in the world.I have stayed in every type of Hotel, from five star caribbean, to hostel types in so called third world countries and never have i encountered such downright shoddy treatment ,or service, from individuals who were supposed to be there to be of service to us. The one thing the previous reviewer failed to mention was the so called head waiter telling the lady guests as they were leaving the euphemistically called restaurant, that they would be dreaming of him when they went to sleep. I could go on but i'm sure that there will be plenty more reviews about this absolutely awful hotel.

“OK from the first floor upwards”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

The room allocated to us was brilliant – and the room service was first class but alas – that’s where it ended. This was not what I would class as a ‘Holiday Hotel’ in my 56 years – it was the most unwelcoming place that I have ever stayed at.

The food was abysmal and the all-inclusive drinks were a joke.
There was a lovely spacious, comfortable lounge in the basement which was only open on one night, despite the fact that for the first four evenings the weather was atrocious, preventing any chance of leaving the premises for a walk around Arco, this lounge remained closed and guests were expected to scramble for the few seats in the reception area (which has the ambience of a dentists waiting room) or sit outside under the entrance veranda.

It was quite obvious that they didn’t actually want people to stay and relax on the premises not only because of the inadequate seating arrangements but also because of the alleged ‘All Inclusive Drinks’. I lost count of how many times I had to go ‘Cap-in-hand’ for a glass (usually chipped on the base) or a cup/mug (again often chipped) because there were never enough available or go and look for someone (usually ‘in hiding) to tell that beer pump was empty, the soft drink bottles were empty or that there was no milk for the tea/coffee.

Meal times were a joke. The wait between the meagre/basic/bland/tasteless courses was unacceptable – we would, on average, wait 30 – 40 minutes between courses (again an obvious ploy to prevent use of the ‘All inclusive drinks period’)

Sunday night a ‘Gala Dinner’ was announced – we all fell for it and got dressed up. It was frankly disgusting. I don’t eat meat – they knew this I had been eating the vegetarian choice (either omelette or cheese) for the previous four nights but they still insisted on placing a plate full of meat in front of me – when I politely pointed out to the waiter (again) that I didn’t eat meat – he shrugged his shoulders and removed my plate and offered me an omelette which arrived one hour and twenty minutes later. (I got dressed for the occasion and waited nearly two hours for an omelette). My wife and the other four people on the table all left their ‘Gala Dinners’ because they were cold (and to be honest the way that they were presented made them look very unappetising indeed) these were collected and at no time (indeed throughout our stay) did anyone ask the usual ‘Is everything OK with your meal?’ During the ‘Gala Dinner’ we heard music which was coming from the comfortable lounge downstairs – they had actually opened it (the only time during our stay) and arranged some entertainment – unfortunately because of extra time that the ‘Gala Dinner’ had taken – by the time the majority people had finished – the singer was packing up his stuff to go home.

The next night we (as did many others) plumped for the Salmon. Imagine the disgust when trying a first mouthful, finding it uncooked (ice cold) in the middle. I left the restaurant (calling it a restaurant is an insult to other restaurants) at this point hopefully never to return.

When we left the hotel on Tuesday morning – the Manager was there – as far as I know he never had the manners to say ‘Goodbye’ or ‘Thank you’ to any member of the coach party.
