“Value for money - very quiet area”

A very decent hotel, very little to complain about. Small family run hotel. The staff were lovely. No bar in the hotel.

The rooms are very basic but clean. Nice shower, no bath, firm beds. Don't expect luxury in room.

Pool area is lovely, on a couple of days we had the pool completely to ourselves, no problem finding a sunbed!

Not your average half board buffet. Dinner was served restaurant style but you had to choose your food from a small set menu that was left out at breakfast. The menu changed each day, 3 first course, 3 second course, 2 accompaniment.

Now the location of the hotel will divide. Those of you who want to do absolutely nothing this is the place for you. There is a long-ish steep walk to the beach but the hotel puts on a shuttle bus. There is almost nothing to do in the area. We did travel in the off season, there might be more open during the summer. The local train station is about a 15 minute walk, a 10 minute train ride (€2 return) to Tropea has all the restaurants and bars you need. Transfer from airport is about 1h20mins.

“Good, basic hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

This hotel is everything you would expect from a package holiday hotel. It is not a luxury hotel, the rooms and bathroom are basic, but very clean. What makes this hotel worth a visit is the lovely pool and gardens, the friendly relaxed feel and the good food.

We stayed just outside the peak season and although the hotel was busy there was always plenty of space round the pool. The pool area really makes the hotel and is surrounded by palm trees and geraniums, and has plenty of beds in the sun, but also plenty of shade.

We went for the full board option and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of the food. Both lunch and dinner menus follow the typical Italian primi and secondi courses with a choice from a couple of pasta dishes followed by salad from a buffet and then a choice of 3 second courses and then fruit. There was usually a choice of fish or meat and usually (but not always) a vegetarian option, but vegetarians might find their choices very limited. Service is friendly very efficient, not quite what we are used to with restaurant service and set to just one sitting at the same time every day. Breakfast was a basic continental buffet. Drinks were very good value and our bill on check out was a lot less than we expected.

The hotel is very close to the end of Capo Vaticano and the lighthouse and is well situated near a small supermarket and a few restaurants. It is a long way down to the nearest beach in the heat, but the hotel runs a shuttle service and we used our hire car and found parking easy at around 5 euros. The closest beach to the hotel was very busy but there are a few other nice beaches only a short drive away. Tropea is about 15 minutes drive away and easily reached by car, train or a shuttle form the hotel.

“Lovely In all Ways”

This is a small family run hotel with a lovely ambience. The staff were all friendly and the cleanliness was amazing. The pool is lovely and big enough to get a swim too! Pierre Francesco ran the pool bar/cafe and did the pool cleaning too. Very friendly happy guy. We were half board and the meals were simple Italian food but very tasty.

The beach is a ten minute walk down a steep hill but there is a courtesy bus from the hotel. My son managed to jog up and down the hill regularly but he is very fit!

The local scenery is amazing, beautiful coastline and very quaint Italian villages. Most people on holiday there were Italian, very few English and a scattering of German. Do not go if you want fish and chips and beer guzzling, not for you!

Tropea is nearest town accessible by organised trip/courtesy bus or local train. We took the train, great fun! The evening boat trip to Strombolli island worth doing, you get to see the volcano on the island erupting at sunset - incredible sight.

All in all a lovely place undiscovered by English, love it! Keep it quiet!

“A small family-run hotel in a quiet part of Calabria.”

All the staff very friendly and did their best to make our stay enjoyable. Room was on the small side and the promised balcony turned out to be a Juliet one. Shower was a bit of a drizzle and the water temperature unstable. However the pool area was a great place to relax in with plenty of free sunbeds and a pool bar which did lunches as well as drinks. Limited choice at mealtimes (but it is a small hotel).

“What a lucky find! - amazing!”

My boyfriend and I were looking for a relaxing low budget holiday with that special spark. We were not disappointed! In the 1st week of our holiday, we were one of the only couples in the resort, and had the pool all to ourselves! The pool was cleaned daily and was set in a beautiful garden area. The 2nd week of our holiday the hotel was a lot busier, but the service was still great and there was still space by the pool. Our rooms were clean but basic, and although the food was nothing special, we were half board, and could therefore try the wonderful pizzerias situated nearby.
We hired a car and drove to the nearby town of Tropea - a buzzing atmosphere with little shops and eateries scattered around.
Although the hotel is set in a relatively quiet area, there are still things to do nearby. The beach is about 10 minutes from the hotel (down quite a steep slope), where you can get a pedaloe aiong the stunning coastline.
All in all, the area is one of great natural beauty, and it is one of the best holidays we have ever had!
