“Fabulous honeymoon hotel : would return everyday if there were no weddings planned under my room!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

So its just amazing .. the location is incredible, the gardens are stunning, its not too big, the food is Michelin star standard [and such good value] the service is impeccable, the strawberry bellinis are amazing .. so whats the catch ... every night we were there there was a wedding in the hotel.. underneath our rooms .. although they ended quite early it became annoying after the 3rd night listening to their discos taking place at full blast when you would like a little quiet romance of our own!.... The hotel probably only has about 10-12 rooms .. and while we stayed an Australian family including two toddlers basically took over everything.. more a complaint about them than the hotel ... they kids cried [as kids do], and their grandmother was ordered her kids the staff around loudly and basically treated the pool area and the hotel as if it was her's .. the hotel didn't intervene [we complained and got yet another lovely strawberry bellini!] but it was really unfair to staff .. I'm all for families on holidays .. but really all guests should have an equally good time regardless of the party size ...

“Beautiful Place to Splurge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We spent our last night of an Italy vacation at Villa Cimbrone. After 3 days in Rome and two on Capri, Ravello was a welcome quiet spot. Arrival at the hotel involves a walk from the town square, but luggage is picked up by a golf cart, so the walk wasn't unpleasant and some of the views were spectacular.

The property itself is exactly what we expected. It is NOT a shiny, modern hotel. It is an old building with a ton of character, but those expecting the same level of amenities as a Ritz or Waldorf Astoria may be disappointed. But if you're looking for something different and luxurious in it's simplicity this is a great place. The gardens are beautiful and the view from the Infinity Terrace is nothing less than breathtaking.

Our room was comfortable, though a bathtub wold have been nice instead of just a shower. The view from the room was incredible though and the bed was very comfortable. Everyone we met, from checkin, to the bars, to the pool to the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. The pool is a highlight of the property and dinner at the restaurant was one of the best meals I've ever experienced.

The only real 'bad' experience was the huge centipede in the shower, but a rolled up magazine soon convinced it to be less alive, so all was well.

We wont hesitate to stay at Villa Cimbrone when we are on the Amalfi Coast again.

“Amazing Experience”

We just returned from a 2-week trip to Italy, with our last 5 days spent at Hotel Villa Cimbrone. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The room (a suite with sea view) was spectacular, the food (breakfast and dinner) was excellent, the location was absolutely beautiful, and the service was superb. In particular, the staff were incredible, very professional and warm at the same time. We ate at the 2-Michelin-starred restaurant in the town (Ravello), and my husband and I agreed that dinner at Cimbrone was vastly superior, particularly for the price.

A couple of things to note - it is a bit of a walk to/from the hotel, with steps and inclines, which could be difficult for some. We didn't find it a problem. Second, we were there during a brief cold snap before the radiators were turned on for the Fall, and the room was pretty cold at times. We are used to this, having lived in Italy and preferring cool rooms when we sleep, but this could be a issue for some.

We had a fabulous time and will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: If you can afford to pay a little more, upgrade to a room with sea view.

Villa Cimbrone is one of those special places that one has to visit, possibly many times.
The architecture, the gardens, the service are impecable.
The view at the Horizon Garden is incredible.
Highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Choose Suite Camelia or Magnolia

“We loved the Cimbrone, best part of our 2-week Italy tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

My husband and I stayed 3 fabulous days at the Hotel Villa Cimbrone in Ravello-I highly recommend this first class, romantic Hotel!

We had one of the smallest rooms (#28) but enjoyed the full property-the pool, the numerous sitting rooms with vaulted ceilings, antiques and lovely furnishings from another period.
It almost felt like we were guests at someone's private villa!

The people were friendly and hospitable. We want our son to honeymoon there when he finds the right girl and gets married!

We will definitely return! We took a cooking class next door at the Villa Maria-loved it!

Room Tip: we had room 28, cloister view, very nice, overlooks the courtyard, small
