We had requested to stay at a sister hotel but they were full so the Baglione Residence Alleluja was recommended to us.
It is situated in a lovely part of Tuscany, along the coast in a small informal village setting.
The apartments were new, they were beautifully finished but very expensive for what we got. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment beside the hotel lobby. We had 2 young children, under 4 years with us. There was a kitchen, livingroom, lovely bedrooms, great bathrooms and lots of wardrobe space. However, as we arrived late in the evening on the day of our arrival, the receptionist suggested we have breakfast in the bar of the hotel the next morning. We had a night cap there before we went to bed, the delay in getting our drinks was about 20 minutes -even though we were the only guests in the bar at the time. The cost was E12 for 2 hot chocolates alone! A rip off. The next morning, as we waited for a breakfast waiter to take our orders, it took almost 45 minutes and then a huge row broke out in the bar between the waiters and the manager, it was in full view of the guests and they didn't try to keep their voices down or to move it way from the public area. It took another 15 minutes and 3 requests later from us, to get any service. Mediocre coffee, orange juice and a basket of croissants with jam were reluctantly placed on our table. The wait staff were miserable, unhappy to have to serve customers and more interested in keeping to themselves in a small room beside the bar. If we needed anything we had to get up from the table and go to the receptionist to request it.
We were told the beach adjoining was for guest use so we headed there in the afternoon to use it. Again, a charge of E40 to use beach chairs and 2 towels for the afternoon or E60 for the use of a changing room. The kids had great fun in the sea so it was worth it I guess, but after paying E500 per night for the apartment it was already too expensive with all the add-ons.
We encountered a foul gaseous smell in our apartment on the first night, we informed the staff who came and sprayed air freshener to hide it! The problem was gas leaking from the air conditioner vents and needed to be rectified, it took them 3 days to see to this, by the time they acknowledged the problem and agreed to give us a different room we were at the end of our 3 day stay so it was too late.
They had internet access, however, it was using the receptionist's only computer, so you had to wait until the receptionist was finished using it, then sit opposite them and turn their screen towards you, when the phone rang they needed to use it again so it was neither a good idea to have guests sharing the only computer they had nor was there any privacy when using the internet.
