“Self catering At La Lantana, Pula”

Beautiful gardens and pool. Very helpful and warm staff. Spacious apartment with an almost private garden. We chilled out very nicely for two weeks with some gorgeous trips up the coast. Don't miss pizzeria up the road- fabulous standard. You need bikes to get around but once on them they give you freedom to see some lovely rural nearby countryside. Good places for lunch. Lots of variety. Beaches packed and a long walk away with a problem of limited shade in August. However a great holiday destination.

“They couldn't do enough for us!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

My wife and I (a couple in our 50s) booked a week's holiday at Lantana through Travel Republic starting on 6th September at very short notice (the day before!). Unbeknown to us there was a general transport strike on in Italy on 6th September and thus instead of landing at Cagliari Airport at 14:55 on 6th we arrived at 14:30 on 7th, minus our luggage courtesy of Alitalia! With the car hire place not due to open until 07:30 and with the hotel a Euro79 taxi ride there and back away, we decided to sleep on the benches at the airport until the car hire place opened.

The hotel simply could not do enough for us both before and ultimately after we arrived at 08:30 the day after we were originally due to arrive and without any prompting from us informed us that they would not charge for the first night's accommodation!

They also got a local Cagliari taxi firm that they use to personally check at the airport to confirm that our delayed luggage had arrived on the eveining of 7th September, which we ultimately got back to our hotel ay 19:30 that evening.

I agree with the comments of a previous reviewer who stated that it is a 4 star hotel with 5 star service and I would not hesitate to recommend it to couples looking for a restful and peaceful holiday in early Autumn once the children have gone back to school (that said, it is well appointed to cater for families as well). The temperature while we were there did not vary much between 28-29 degrees each day with a warm breeze for most of the time.

The food was varied and very good (we stayed there half board) so much so that I put on 8lbs during our stay! It is an easy walk into the centre of Pula, which is charming and there is a complementary shuttle service to the nearest beach, but I would definitely recommend hiring a car to explore more widely (the coastal road west of Chia is not to be missed),

All in all a memorable holiday (for a lot of reasons!) and my wife and I would not hesitate going back there.

Room Tip: Try and get one of the superior rooms overlooking the pool.

“4 star hotel with 5 star service”

Booked last minute to celebrate our anniversary.Used Expedia for hotel flights & car rental package. We were not disappointed everything ran smoothly so we were booking in the hotel within an hour & a half of landing at Cagliari.
We arrived at the Lantana & had only switched off the engine when the main door opened & we were given a warm welcome by Paula who was on reception. We decided we wanted a bigger room than booked & she quickly found us a superb suite with lounge, kitchen.king bed.a/c & large balcony. There were shutter doors to the balcony so the blackout effect ensred a good nights sleepThe sheets & towels were changed daily.
A quick change & we were lounging by the large & well kept pool with towels readily available
We had dinner at the hotel that evening & there was a good choice of 4 courses with good but inexpensive wine. The continental style buffet breakfast every day was excellent with plenty of fresh fruit & choice of items.
All the staff were all extremely friendly & helpful & in particular Graziella on evening bar duty.
The grounds are immaculately kept & the whole resort felt spacious.
Pula town is only 5 minutes by car or a 20 minute walk & has a number of good ristorantes & pizzarias for a change but for our anniversary evening we chose to dine at the hotel again.
The Lantana is ideally positioned too explore Cagliari - great archealogical museum there & nearby beaches at Nora - where there are Roman ruins of a former town which has supplied the numerous artefacts for the museum + a wildlife sanctuary in the lagoon.Other superb beaches we also found at Chia & Cala Tuerredda & there are many more.
This was our first visit to Sardinia & we would definitely go back & can highly recommend the Lantana

Room Tip: Choose a suite if you like bigger rooms

“Very friendly - highly recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

We had a wonderful stay at this very friendly, comfortable hotel-resort. It is a quite new hotel which has some classic hotel rooms and some appartments. As it is new everything is beautifully clean and works properly! The buildings are new but in Sardinian style and set in a beautiful garden. It is not too big a hotel which means it is not too busy at the pool or in the restaurant.

We took a two room appartment for 2 weeks in August (when the hotel was at its busiest) and were very pleased with it - there is a spacious bedroom and our two children slept in the good-sized living room which has a sofa which becomes a bed and a bed rolled under the sofa which becomes a second bed - it was very easy to put it all back to a sofa for the daytime. There is a small kitchenette which has electric rings, fridge, microwave, fridge (with freezer compartment), cutlery and crockery. It is not the place to cook a gourmet meal but perfect for preparing breakfast and simple meals. You can ask at reception to borrow a toaster for the duration of your stay (against a small deposit). The bathroom (with shower not bath) is spacious. There is a safe in the apartment. What impressed us was that the sheets and towels are changed every 2 or 3 days in the appartments and the appartment was properly cleaned once a week (so you did feel you were on holiday even in an appartment!). There is either a terrace or balcony (depending if you are ground floor or first floor) for each appartment with table and chairs so you can eat meals outside.

The staff at the hotel were really very friendly and helpful - they almost all spoke English and one or two also spoke French. They were always happy to reserve restaurants for us and to give us directions to places or to suggest places to go - they really were some of the nicest hotel staff that I have met.

The hotel has a nice pool with a shallow end for the kids and a large deeper end. It is plenty big enough for the number of hotel residents (it could possibly do with a few more sunshades and sunloungers but only because of the people who leave their towels on them even when they leave the pool for hours at a time). A couple of times a week there were gentle morning exercises by the pool and 3 times a week in the early evening there were water aerobic classes at the pool - all free to residents. There is a lifeguard in attendance for a large part of the day, too, and you can borrow towels for the pool and/or beach from reception. There is a small playground for young children and a ping pong table for older ones (ask at reception for bats and a ball). There is also a golf putting area which was popular with children and dads alike.

The hotel restaurant is possibly the only slight disappointment. At lunchtime it is rather overpriced with quite ordinary food. At dinner time it is much better value for money but a bit variable - sometimes the food is quite delicious and very Sardinian and other times it is a bit unexciting and like any big hotel anywhere in the world (not bad but a bit unexciting). Luckily Pula has some nice restaurants (but in August you must book) so it really doesn't matter. I would have given the hotel 5 stars if the food was a bit more exciting at times.

A few practical matters that it is useful to know - there is a hotel minibus that can take you to and bring you back from Nora beach (or to and from the golf club if you are a golf player). They can also organise airport transfers. You can walk into town but it is a 20-30 minute walk (depending on whether you have kids or not!) and if it is hot or you have shopping it is rather a long way. A hire car is definitely a plus if staying here and a must if you want to explore the region properly. Nora beach is nice but there are lots of other beautiful beaches to discover, too. There is a laundry room in the hotel with washers and dryers but we didn't need to use it.

Overall we really do recommend this hotel. Pula is a very pleasant town and this part of Sardinia is very unspoilt.

“Lovely resort with great hospitality”

We stayed at Lantana in Sept 2010 with our families for our wedding in Cagliari. We changed our meal plans at last minute & decided to have our evening wedding meal at the resort. We are so glad we did - the hotel provided babysitters for the kids & we all had a great evening with lovely food. The staff went out of their way to make our evening as perfect as possible.
Generally during our weeks stay the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The resort was clean & very well maintained with lovely grounds which looked great in our wedding photos.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Lantana resort for a relaxing holiday in the sunshine.
