“Pleasant stay throughout”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

First of all, let me point out that this is a hostel, so really you shouldn't expect the same experience of a hotel, not even 1 or 2-star hotel.

I had some time to kill in Italy so decided to check out parts of Italy that I haven't been to. Originally I planned to stay in Positano for two nights, ended up extending my stay. The hostel is well located, super close to the bus stop. Met different crowd there every night but always had tons of fun together. Very sociable hostel. The owner, Christiana and Cosimus are great! The only complaint is that shower ran out of hot water couple of times and not very clean but otherwise, very pleasant stay indeed.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. We got the plumbing upgraded over the winter, and now have good capabilities to supply sufficient hot water.

“Stay anywhere else in Positano but here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

My friend and I stayed here for two nights, and really, it was two nights too many. We were led to believe that the hostel had parking and so if you see it advertised as having parking then this is not correct; the parking was just street parking quite a way away. we were assured that it was an ok area to park, but it wasnt and we got parking fines totalling £90.
On arrival there is a husband and wife team that work there (not sure if they own it), they were helpful, but the other people that worked on reception were rude and unhelpful. Service was really inconsistent.
We booked a private room. In fairness, the view was lovely, but as for the rest of the room... the decoration was awful (it looked like it had been decorated by a 2 year old!), the toilet flushed of its own accord every minute and a half and the bed was uncomfortable so we had no sleep at all, and the place was infested with ants! I'm not kidding, they crawled all over us in the night (they even craled up my legs when I was in the bathroom!)
This just wasnt acceptable. My friend and I have stayed in hostels all over the world and this was the absolute worst. I really would say that if you are going to positano/the amalfi coast really do not stay here, you will be so disappointed and there is nothing worse when you are on holiday.
in fairness, like I said above, the hubby and wife team were helpful and arranged a lovely boat trip for us which saved us time and five euros, but that doesnt compensate for the rest.

I remember quite well the issue of the parking ticket that you picked up. As you say, we do not provide parking, and are careful to state that parking is on street. The 'area' that you parked in is okay, just not where you actually parked, which is clearly marked as being no parking. We did do our best on the many, many, many times that you brought this issue up to advise how best to handle it, and you did not complain directly to us at that time that you thought that we were connected with this issue.

With regards to staff being rude, we did not get that feedback in general; we would have wanted to hear about that at the time, and would have sought to address the matter had we received such feedback.

Which takes us to the complaints about the room itself. Setting aside the feedback on the decor, I do not understand how anyone would stay in a room with a toilet that flushed of its own accord every 'minutes and a half' and was infested with ants, without at least mentioning it to someone who worked at the hostel. We also received no such feedback the entire season, and the room you stayed in was let out a high percentage of the time.

“overpriced and inconsiderate”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

We booked a private ensuite room for 2 nights and had company. The room was infested with ants and looked like it had been decorated by a 2 year old. The bed was uncomfortable and the toilet every minute day and night! The staff in the hostel were inconsistent in their attitude towards their guests. In all I would not recommend you stay here and if they want to capture the private room market then they have a long way to go.

PS..I was under the impression the had parking and they most definitely do not! I was advised to park up the hill and received £90 in fines!!!!! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!

“Brilliant location, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

The terrace in front of the hostel has wonderful views and is the ideal place for breakfast and socialising, We had a private ensuite room with a small balcony above the terrace. Though small, the room had everything we needed and was very clean - as were the public areas.

Though the hostel was very busy, the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. We found it excellent value for money - if you want to visit in high season I would advise booking early.

“Worst bed digs in the prettiest place on earth.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2011

The young brother and sister that run this place are very personable and the hostel has great terraces. But the room was horrible. Eight women crammed into a tiny room. One bathroom. No shower curtain. No lockers. Filthy. Clean sheets at least!

Hello,

Sorry, but I cannot find a record of your stay with us, and do not remember you, so I'll have to limit this response to the following observations:

The Hostel is not and has never been run by a brother and sister.
The female dorm (we only have one female only room) does not have a shower curtain, because the female bathroom for this room actually has four shower stalls (completely enclosed).
Every dorm room has lockers - although one of the room's lockers (not the female dorm) is located outside the dorm room.
Clean sheets are provided to guests on arrival. These sheets are sealed/packed, following their launder by our laundry provider.
